Olivia's pov (December 25th, 2017)
I sat down in my bed with a cup of hot chocolate on my bedside table while I read Madison's self help books. Madison already read them but I wanted to read them too so that I knew how to help her.
I looked up from my books when I heard my bedroom door opened. I smiled when I saw Madison walk in.
She was getting better. She wasn't as upset as she was. I think she finally accepted the divorce and her mom moving out.
"Hey, baby." I closed my book and set it down as I stood up from my bed.
"Hey, babygirl. You ready for ice skating?" She asked me.
"Mhm." I hummed.
The two of us were going ice skating today before I had to go to my grandparents at six for dinner.
Madison and I had already exchanged Christmas gifts this morning. She got me a new guitar strap with my last name stitched on it and I got her a Boston Celtics jersey.
She doesn't seem like the type of girl to be big on sports but she really was. Her whole family was a die hard Celtics fan.
We both got into the back of my dads car and he started to drive us to the indoor ice skating rink.
"I can't wait until we get our licenses." Madi told me. "We could go anywhere we want, whenever we want."
"Yeah. And we don't have to have our parents drive us around for dates." I added with a small chuckle.
"Just one more year." Madison said.
When we got to the ice skating rink, we went inside and got our skates. We went into the rink and thank god there weren't that many people here.
Madi immediately fell on her butt causing me to laugh. She widened her eyes in shock before looking at me and letting out a small laugh. She tried to get up but then ended up falling again causing me to laugh harder.
"Help me up!" She laughed as she held out her hand.
"Are you okay?" I finally asked as I helped her stand up.
"I'm fine, yeah." Madison smiled as she tightly held onto both of my hands.
I glanced behind Madison when I noticed a little kid skate past her with one of those skating walkers. "Should we get you one of those?"
Madison looked behind her, looking at the little kid before looking at me with a slight glare. "Ha ha, very funny, Liv."
I let out a small giggle before skating away, pulling her with me. Madison let out a small gasp as she tried to keep up with my pace.
"Slow the fuck down." She told me.
I turned around to skate backwards. "I'm going a normal pace. You're just slow."
"Liv." Madi groaned.
I playfully rolled my eyes at her before slowing down. "Happy?"
"Yes, thank you very much." Madi smiled.
We skated a few laps side by side as we talked. We talked a lot about what our lives were like before we met each other.
I felt a little sad for Madison. It seemed like her family was perfect before she moved here. Her parents were happily in love.
"Wait, you played football?" I asked her in shock after she revealed that information to me.
"Yeah." She nodded. "I played all through middle school with the towns team and then I was on junior varsity my freshman year of high school. I was upset when my dad told me that it was too late in the season to play here this year."
"Are you gonna try out next year?" I asked.
"I don't think so." Madison shook her head. "Football isn't really what I want to do, you know?"
"What do you want to do?" I wondered.
"I want to be a musician. Write songs and sing them on tour for millions of people. I want to win a Grammy." Madison admitted.
"You can do both." I said. "I also want to be a singer but for now I do cheer on the sidelines. Like a hobby, you know?"
"You think I should do football next year?" Madison furrowed her eyebrows as she looked at me.
I shrugged. "I think it could be really fun. We don't have a junior varsity team at school so you'd be on varsity. Plus, picture this. Olivia Rodrigo, the schools cheer captain, and Madison Hutchins, the schools star football player."
Madison let out a chuckle. "I don't know about star football player. You've never seen me play, how would you know?"
"I can just picture it. I bet you'd look pretty hot in all your gear." I smirked.
"I think I might have a few photos." Madison smiled at me.
"I need to see them." I said.
Madison and I sat on a bench in front of the ice skating rink as we waited for her dad to come pick us up. While we waited, she was showing me some pictures that she had from when she played football.
"This was when I scored my first touchdown." Madison said.
I looked at the photo. She looked about eleven and she had a big smile on her face.
"Aww." I cooed.
Madison swiped to the next photo. "Here's a photo from last year. That's me and that's one of my buddies."
Madison had her helmet on and she was fist bumping one of her teammates. I could see her eye black running down her face from her sweat.
"Wow." I said. "I was right. You do look really hot. Can you please play next year?"
Madison turned her head to look at me, letting out a sigh when she saw the pleading look on my face. "Fine."
"Yay!" I cheered.
