The next day
(Jennifer P.O.V)
"I'll be leaving now, mi amor. See you later," Nicolas said, grabbing his key and proceeding to open the front door, but he suddenly paused in his tracks.
"I'll be leaving now, mi amor. See you later," he repeated, but I didn't notice because I was lost in thought.
Before I knew it, a dark, alluring presence towered over me, finally grasping my attention.
I couldn't even get a chance to react before he grabbed my face, forcing me to look at him, looking into his eyes, I noticed the angry expression on his face.
I sigh, wondering what I did now.
"Listen to me when I'm fucking speaking to you," he threatened, sending chills down my spine.
"Y-yes, I'm sorry, I was just thinking about my job, that's all," I complied, quivering under his touch.
His expression then changed from angry to a cold, annoyed one in a matter of seconds.
"I could care less about that stupid little job of yours. When I speak to you, everything else doesn't matter except for me, understand?" he asked, still keeping his hold on me solid and firm.
"Yes, I understand," I muttered, looking away from him, but I soon regretted that decision.
He then forced my head back to face him, almost breaking my neck in the process.
"Did I say I was done talking to you?" he asked through gritted teeth, squeezing my face harder.
"No, I'm sorry, it won't happen again," I cried, feeling my jaw crushed.
We locked our eyes on each other until he finally released me, bringing me so much relief.
"That's better. Now, I have to go to work. Make sure dinner is ready by the time I'm home, okay?" he said, kissing my lips before leaving.
What the hell did I possibly do to deserve this? Don't I deserve better?
Once I heard Nicolas pull off, I returned to eating breakfast, holding back the tears, fighting to escape.
I hated it when I got like this, scared and defenseless. It made me feel so weak, but that's all I can help but feel in those moments. It also isn't helping that I had that nightmare yesterday. It's left me shaken up ever since then.
After finishing breakfast, I put my plate and cup in the dishwasher and went upstairs to prepare for work today.
I was now cleaned up and completely dried off, so I started to get dressed.
Thankfully, I already had my outfit planned out beforehand because I would be late for work if I didn't.
My outfit consisted of a silk flowy long-sleeved lavender shirt, white suit pants, and matching lavender high-block heels. For accessories, I went with a simple white purse, a pearl necklace, and matching earrings.
All that was left was my hair.
I couldn't decide whether to do a down curly style like yesterday or something different.
I decided to do a high curly ponytail with one bang in the front, something professional yet simple.
After putting on my clothes and finishing my hair, I walked to my vanity to apply some light lavender eye shadow, eyeliner, and lip gloss.
I was now ready for the day, so I grabbed my purse and keys and exited the room, hoping and praying that today would go much better than yesterday.
