Jennifer P.O.V
Taking a deep breath, I prepare to say everything I'd kept in for far too long.
"I honestly wish I knew what was going on inside that demented head of yours for you to even think for a split second that materials are a way to keep in a relationship or to keep me in the dark, preventing me from finally finding out the truth about all of your damn lies." I spat out, feeling the anger boil up inside me.
I know the fucking reason he bought me a single thing was to flaunt it in front of his friends, bragging about how he's such an "amazing" and "loving" husband.
"What do you mean my damn lies? When have I lied".
"Are you seriously going to act dumb right now?" I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms. "So you mean all that stuff you told me wasn't lying, the things you stood there and tricked me into believing wasn't a lie?" I questioned, sending him an annoyed glare.
"Tricked you?" he asked with confusion, walking over to the kitchen island to lie against it. "All I did was twist some things around that I told you, and you were just dumb enough to believe it. It's not my fault you can't tell the difference between the truth and a lie," he shrugged, looking away.
Is he serious right now?
"That's the definition of tricking somebody. You lie or mix some things up to make them believe you and continue from there!" I furiously shout, stomping towards him.
"Along with the trickery, you poisoned me, abused me emotionally and physically, but yet you somehow think I could ever love a bastard like you!".
I panted heavily, attempting to regain my breath.
I may be out of breath and felt a slight headache coming on, but it felt exhilarating to finally stand up to him. It felt like I'd finally gotten rid of this weight off my shoulders that I didn't realize I had until now.
Once I caught my breath, I said this next, hoping to make myself clear to Nicolas.
"I refuse to take any more bullshit from you and believe a single one of your treacherous lies again, so with that being said, I will be leaving you as you said, and I don't ever want to speak nor see you again."
The room became sinisterly quiet, and the little hope inside me wished he had finally realized we were done.
That hope died in an instant.
Nicolas started laughing like a crazed maniac, which was beginning to frighten me.
To make matters worse, he was laughing while slowly facing his attention back towards me, causing my whole body to freeze.
Shit.
He swiftly placed his hand on the back of my head, grabbing a fist full of my hair and yanking me to where I lost my balance, falling to my knees.
I deeply regretted freezing up because I wouldn't be in this position now if I didn't, but how he looked at me made me do it.
The look in his eyes wasn't anger or resentment. It was the look of a disturbed being who's lost touch with reality.
Nicolas then knelt, slowly easing his face in, getting closer and closer to mine, whispering in my ear.
"I don't know who you think you're talking to like that, but I'm going to need it to stop before I do something I won't regret because if you think those other times were bad, wait until you find out what happens if you open that disrespectful mouth of yours again.
What does he mean by that? He's hurt me so badly the other times that I had to go to the hospital. How much worse could it possibly get than that....?
Oh.My.God
No, no, no, tell me he isn't actually going to do what I think he's about to do.
"You're going to kill me," I accidentally said out loud, seeing a vast smirk grow on his face.
"You know, you're clever at times, Jennifer," he complimented, releasing my hair.
A sigh of relief left my lips, feeling his iron grip no longer hold me, but I didn't dare face him again after what had just happened. I'm too worried I'll freeze up again, allowing him to harm me.
While my head pointed to the ground, I heard his footsteps come closer, and I eventually saw him walk past me.
For a moment, it was utterly silent. Then, I heard the cabinet doors open, wondering what he was getting from there.
"See, other times. I was trying to go easy on you because you're my wife, and I love you".
"But," he paused, clicking, automatically letting me know what he had in his possession.
"Since I'm such a horrible, disgusting person in your eyes, you'll be a pet in mine, and you do know what happens to a pet that disobeys its owner one too many times, right?".
"W-What," I responded, dragging my trembling body as far away as possible.
I then stood up and attempted to run towards the front door, but he instantly kicked me in the back, causing me to scream in agonizing pain, falling flat on my stomach.
Grabbing my shoulder, he flipped me over to where I was now, lying on my back and facing him once again.
"You didn't answer my question, Jennifer!'' Nicolas pointed out, clearly frustrated.
He pointed the gun to my chest, glaring me down, still waiting for my answer.
"Jennifer!"
"I don't know!" I cried, feeling utter terror in my heart.
He sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose, showing clear signs of disappointment.
Crouching down, he traced the gun from my chest to my stomach, placing his finger on the trigger.
"Well, to answer your question, a pet like yourself gets put down," he answered as a creepy smile appeared.
"WAIT, NICOLAS-"
