Jennifer P.O.V

After we finished our little splash war, which felt like it had been going on forever, we finally stopped deciding to draw a tie since David was so eager to show me this surprise.

Covering my eyes with his hands, we slowly approached the surprise he'd prepared, and I couldn't help but feel that I was about to be absolutely stunned.

"It may be a bit much, but you're always worth it," he says as he removes his hands, revealing what he's prepared.

I knew it. The surprise left me speechless.

"You prepared a picnic date for me?" I asked as I began to tear up.

"Yep, I even prepared some of your favorite dishes. We have Arroz Con Pollo, Ceviche, and casado. For dessert, I baked Coconut flan and Tres leches. Then to top it off, I got your favorite wine, Chateau d'esclans whispering angel rose," he states, wrapping his arms around my waist. "Do you like it?"

"Like it?" I say, whipping away the tears before they fall. "I love it," I chuckle weekly as my heart flutters. "You didn't have to do all of this, you know. The view of the waterfall and relaxing together would've been enough for me."

Turning around, I notice a frown on his face, taking a wild guess as to why it's there.

"Jennifer, didn't I tell you how it makes me feel when you down your self-worth?" He touched my shoulders, "Like what you did just now."

"You said it makes you upset, and you hate it when I do that to myself," I mumbled, meeting his eyes with mine.

"Say it louder so I can hear you," he firmly states, placing his index finger under my chin.

"You said it makes you upset, and you hate it when I do that myself," I repeat louder this time so he can hear me.

"Exactly, and every time you say something like that, I'm just going to keep reminding you that you are worth this and so much more until it's engraved in your mind," he says, brushing his lips on mine.

Nodding my head in agreement, his smile returns, and we proceed to sit on the pink and white blanket, ready to dig into this delicious food.

"Oh, before we eat, I got you a little something," he says, reaching behind his bag.

Pausing in my tracks before I opened the container, I looked up to see what it was.

He then placed a crystal vase with Bromeliaceae inside before me, making my heart ache with how sweet he could be.

It's like he remembers every little detail about me. He remembers my favorite food, my favorite dessert, my favorite wine, and now my favorite flowers.

"You must have one of the best memories in the world because there's no way you remember all these little details about me," I blush, grazing the flowers, reminiscing about their beauty.

"I remember little details like this so you can always know how much I care about you," he says, placing his hand on mine. "That way, you never have any doubt about how I feel about you."

"Well, just know I always appreciate how much you put into this relationship," I say, leaning in to kiss him on the cheek.

Returning a smile, I opened all the containers while he pulled out the plates and cups from his bag.

"I hope this tastes as good as those breakfast sandwiches you've fixed."

"Oh, those breakfast sandwiches were just a little something I quickly whipped up. This here is gonna be way better than that," he says, pointing at the food with his fork.

"Let me be the judge of that," I smile, deciding which delicacies to try first.

An hour later.

"I. Am. Stuffed," I slowly say, leaning back and patting my stomach.

"Same here," David says, laying his head on my thighs. "Did you enjoy the food, though?".

"I enjoyed every last crumb of it. How did you give it that rich flavor, though? It tasted a bit different than how you traditionally make it."

"Well, I add my own little twist to some of the food I make to explore new flavors. Traditional is good, but doing things differently sometimes isn't bad either."

"After eating these delicious meals today, I do not argue against that."

"What's next, though, on this fabulous date? It would be a shame for it to end so early".

"Hmm," he hums, fiddling with his hands. "Well, if you want, we go back to my place and do whatever you want once an idea comes to mind," he shrugs.

"Sounds good to me". I say, removing his head from my thighs. "I have one idea that I've been dying to do with you," I beam, hoping he accepts the idea.

"And this idea would be?".

"Have you ever heard of this show called Vampire Diaries?" I ask while gathering up all of the plates and cups and putting them in a plastic bag.

"You mean that one show where all the women drool over the sexy vampire men?".

Holding my hand to my heart, I look at him in disbelief, offended by his comment. "I don't drool over them," I paused. "I just stare at them for a long time. There's a difference," I shrugged.

"It sounds about the same to me," he says flatly. "So you want to watch this show so you can show me how obsessed you are with these men?"

"No, I want to watch it to spend quality time with you because it's a drama filled with juicy romance that I think you might like."

"Is it at least fantasy?"

"Um...Yes, of course, it has vampires and witches, so it's considered fantasy".

"Then I'm down to watch it," he agrees as he finishes packing the items.

Standing up, we put on our clothes. He put's on his backpack while I picked up the flower vase, and then we returned to his car.

Sometime later, we pulled up to his apartment, parked in the lot, and stepped out to go inside.

"Trust me, you're going to love this show," I beam, wrapping my arms around his.

Letting out a sigh, he gave me a weak but goofy smile. "I uh...I hope I do".
