The next day
Jennifer P.O.V
I stepped out of the shower, grabbing the towels to wrap around both my hair and body.
Walking over to the sink, I crouched and opened the cabinet doors to grab the shopping bags I had hidden in the back yesterday.
Placing the bag on the sink, I dry my hair and body, wondering where he might be taking me.
He said it was casual yet lovely restaurant that had the most stunning view of the ocean
Whenever I went out to a restaurant with Nicolas, it was the best five-star restaurant that he could find or heard about, of course, it was overly extravagant and had overpriced food that didn't taste all that good to me.
But enough about Nicolas. I need to focus on my date with David and imagine how much fun I'm about to have.
Even though I feel uneasy and worried about this whole ordeal, I still want to go through it.
I've been stuck in a controlling and loveless marriage for eight years now.
It's about time I take control of my life and do what I want.
Even though doing so might bring me harm's way.
At the same time, nobody ever said that reaching freedom would be easy.
Since I was now thoroughly dried off, I pulled out my dress and heels, slipped them on, and walked over to my vanity to do my hair and apply my makeup.
Once finished, I stood up, stepped in front of my full-body mirror, and admired how gorgeous I looked.
My outfit consists of a black off-shoulder shirred mesh top with a matching asymmetrical ruched ruffle hem mesh skirt. I also wore tangerine-colored stiletto-strapped sandals with a matching baguette bag and an orange sapphire-embellished necklace and earrings set.
I didn't want to go over the top for my hair, so I did a side-part body wave.
I then reached for my phone, snapped a picture, and sent it to Manolo, hoping he liked it as much as I did. I also wanted a male's opinion on my outfit.
Jenifer: *Send pic* The outfit looks fantastic. You have perfect taste 👌🏼
Manolo: You look stunning, Jeni
Make sure to have fun and do not worry about Nicolas.
Jennifer: Don't worry, I won't. Nicolas has to stay at the office all night, so my chances of getting caught are slim.
Manolo: See, even god approves of you being with David because what are the chances 😂
Jennifer: If god writes in the sky telling me to marry David, then I'll do it 😂😂
Manolo: Ok, let me pray for that to happen tonight, then 👀😂
Manolo: But good luck on your date, and let me know how it all went once you're home.
Jennifer: Thank you, and I will 😄
Retrieving my purse from the bed, I headed downstairs to sit on the couch and wait for David, but the second I did, I noticed a black Jeep pulling up.
At first, I wondered who it might be, but then I promptly remembered David mentioning he drove a Jeep Wrangler, so that must be him.
Standing up, I walked over to the door, grabbed my keys from the key hook, exited the house, and walked up to David's car.
David quickly rushed to the passenger side and opened the door for me.
"Thank you," I smiled, taking a seat inside.
He then closed my door, walked back toward the driver's side, got back in the car, and drove off.
"Nice car," I complimented, trying to start a conversation.
"Thanks, I bought it a couple of months ago.
After discussing more about his car, we then switched the conversation to work then sweet little Isa.
_________________________________We arrived at the restaurant twenty minutes later, parking in a nearby slot.
Like the gentleman he graciously is, he got out of the car first to open the door for me, holding his hand out for mine.
"Thank you," I smiled, placing my hand on his step out of the car.
The moment we stepped inside the scenery left me absolutely astonished.
There were beautiful light wooded floors, lovely golden egyptian statues, lights that shined a golden glow throughout the entire restaurant, brown and black wooded chairs and tables scattered throughout the floor, and a view of the ocean that was so amazing that it could take anybody's breath away.
After the host found our reservation, she grabbed two menus and led us to our table.
"Here is your table, senor and senora. We hope you enjoy our time at Sentido Norte," she said, placing our menus down.
We thanked the host and then took our seats.
"There's a lot of good options on here. I think I already know what I might order," David said, continuing to browse the menu while I was still debating what I wanted.
"There is. I'm going to be dead broke by the time we leave." I chuckled but didn't hear a laugh in return. "Um, David?" I peeked my head from behind my menu.
He slowly closed his menu, then sat it down, looking at me confused.
"What's wrong? Is it something I said?" I asked, worried I ruined the date already.
We've only been for a couple of minutes, and I'm already fucking everything up.
"What do you mean you're going to be dead broke? You don't plan on paying for your food, right?"
Is that why he's upset?
"I mean... yeah, whenever I go out with my um," I pause hesitantly to say this next. "My "husband" makes me pay for my food, and I've just grown used to it."
I really hope I didn't ruin this date with David by mentioning Nicolas's name.
At the same time, I didn't t want to lie, especially when I was trying to grow a relationship with David.
And you can't grow a relationship when the first thing you do it lie.
David stared at me in silence, probably trying to figure out how to let me down and cancel this whole date gently.
I wouldn't blame him. He already knows I'm married, and that's most likely an unattractive feature he finds about me. Then, to make things worse, I'm bringing up my husband on our date.
"When a man takes his woman out on a date, he should pay for the meal, not her," he said, pulling me out of my thoughts.
"E-excuse me, repeat that," I asked, ensuring I heard correctly.
"When a man takes his woman out on a date, he should pay for it not her. I don't know how that "husband" of yours works, but I'm not like him."
"I" was the only word I could muster up.
I was utterly speechless, but I agreed. David asked me out on a date, which usually means he'll pay for us. He's also correct about not being a single bit like Nicolas.
David is kind and considerate, while Nicolas is a selfish asshole.
"I agree," I finally said, seeing his warm smile return.
"That's good to hear. Have you figured out what you wanted to order yet?"
"Hmmm, I'm not sure. Maybe you can order for me since this is my first time coming here," I suggested, placing my menu down. "I trust you have good taste.
"I surely do," he replied, gazing at me.
