The next day
Jennifer P.O.V
Slowly opening my eyes, I feel the bright sun shining through the windows, casting down on my face.
Sitting up, I use my hand as a shield to block the light, then look beside me to find David isn't there.
Weird?
I slip out of bed and look for my clothes, but then I remember they are scattered across the hallway floor.
Oh, right, we did strip on the way back here.
I was about to hurry out and collect my things, but I noticed an oversized black T-shirt at the end of the bed with a note on top.
*Come to the kitchen after you change. I have a surprise for you 🤍
Hmm, I wonder what the surprise is?
Slipping on the shirt, I toss the note back on the bed and leave to go to the kitchen.
Getting closer to the kitchen, I notice the smell of eggs and sausage lingering in the air.
So not only is he the ideal type, but he cooks as well.
"Morning," I say as David turns off the stove.
"Good morning," he smiles, grabbing two plates from the cabinet and placing them on the kitchen island. "Sleep well?"
"Yeah, amazing, actually," I answer, sitting on one of the stools. "What time is it?"
Looking at the clock, he answers with "ten thirty" and then puts our breakfast on the plates.
Shit, Nicolas is probably back at home throwing a fit worrying about where I'm at, but....I can worry about him later. Right now, I will enjoy my time in heaven while I still can.
Pouring two cups of coffee, he slides the plate and mug in my direction, then carries his, sitting next to me.
Looking down, I see what he made for me, and my heart completely melted.
An egg sausages and cheese sandwich, my favorite
How did I get so lucky?
Picking up the sandwich, I take a bite into it, and oh.my.lord, it tastes fucking fantastic. It tastes even better than how the people at the cafe make it.
"What did you put in this to make it taste so damn good?" I moan, practically gouging down the sandwich at this point.
"Just the basics: salt, pepper, and some mushrooms."
"The mushrooms certainly give the eggs that spark of flavor," I complimented after finishing my sandwich within seconds.
"Thank you," he replied, taking a bite of his eggs.
After breakfast, we took a shower together and then got dressed so he could take me back to that hell I call a house.

Pulling up to my house, he parked the car as we sat silently, not wanting this to end.
Yesterday felt like an outright dream come true. Even though it was our first date, I felt confident, happy, loved, and free, something I hadn't felt in such a long time.
Now, I've been brought back to the painful reality that I'm still married to an abusive control freak.
If I found the strength not to fear the consequences of leaving him, I would finally feel how I felt yesterday for the rest of my life.
If only.
"How would you feel about a second date?" he abruptly asked, tugging me out of my thoughts. "I know it's too soon to ask, but I don't want this to end. Spending time with you gave me this amazing feeling that I haven't felt in a long time, and I don't believe it should end just because you're married to that idiot," he said, pointing to my house. "So please let me continue to show you what you deserve."
I would say yes in a heartbeat, but who knows when I'll get this opportunity again?
It's too unlikely for Nicolas to get called in for an overnight shift in such a short time.
Then again, it never hurts to have hope, right?
"Would you be willing to wait? I turned my attention towards him. "I'm not sure when I'll get an opportunity like this again, but if you're willing to wait for me, I'll be more than happy to go on a second date with you," I smiled slightly as a sigh of relief escaped his lips.
Placing his hand in mine, he says this next, making my heart skip a beat, "Baby, I'm willing to do anything for you."
