David P.O.V

Is it wrong that I wish Jennifer never met this Nicolas person but instead met me first?

Maybe then she would've married me, and I could've shown the entire world the confident, generous, and beautiful woman I see instead of this frail, insecure, and doubtful woman that her husband created.

I can tell by her body language and the way her facial expression changes whenever she mentions him that he's a horrible husband and an even more horrible human being.

I can also tell that he's an insecure, selfish, controlling jackass that keeps Jennifer locked up nice and tight in this cage like a rare exotic bird rather than letting her fly free to live the life she wants.

He doesn't deserve her, and she doesn't deserve to be treated like this.

At that moment, I vowed to do everything I could to show her how a woman as precious as herself should be treated, worshiped, and cherished, like a rare flower that only blooms once a year.

My goal now is to protect and care for the rare flower before me.

Escaping my thoughts, I notice the stunned yet puzzled expression expand throughout her face.

"O-oh," she stumbled as her face grew redder and redder by the second.

"I mean it, Jeni," I say, lightly squeezing her hand. "I want to show you what you deserve."

"How do you plan on showing me when my husband tracks my every move?"

He keeps a fucking tracker on her?

"If he keeps track of where you are all the time, how are you here with me right now?"

"I...left the phone with the tracker at home. I've been texting you with the secret one."

Like I said before, Intelligent.

"So he's not home?"

"No, he has to stay at his job late tonight and won't be back until nine or ten in the morning.

Yea, God is telling me to seize this opportunity. The question is, do I have the courage to do so?

"Do you have any plans after our date?" I ask, begging god that she says no.

"No, nothing special in particular, why?"

"Well, instead of ending our date here, we could extend our time together. The night is still young, and it would be a waste to spend the rest of our night alone."

Please, lord, let her say yes.

"I agree, it would be a waste to not enjoy the rest of this lovely night together " she beamed, as my heart skipped a beat.

The waitress then returned with our food a few minutes later, which Jennifer took little to no time to finish.

I see she likes it more than I thought she would.

She also has one hell of an appetite.

After we finished our food, I requested the check to pay for our meals, and then we left to continue our night together.

(Jennifer P.O.V)

Even though David suggested that we continue on this date, he was unsure of what he wanted to do.

I found how he reacted when he got embarrassed and flustered quite adorable.

To save him from more embarrassment, I suggested we drive to a nearby park for a pleasant evening stroll.

Walking alongside one another on the concrete pathway as it guides us through the park, I relish in the beauty of the orange-purple and blue-painted sky, the glory bush trees radiating a white and orange glow from the stringed lights wrapped around them, the flower beds of orange lilies placed beautifully all over the ground, and the dark pine wood benches scattered all around the park.

"I'm sorry I didn't pick something more exciting," I say as we pass by an elderly couple. "You took me to a beautiful restaurant while I had us go to a boring old park."

"I don't always expect to go on exciting dates. Just like to enjoy each other's company and spend time together."

"There goes that charm again," I mumble, as a grin emerges on my face.

"What was that?"

"That charm," I repeat. "Like back at the restaurant, you made that lovely little speech about how a man should treat his woman to dinner when they go out, or when you said how much you hate to hear how Nicolas puts me down any chance he gets. It seems pathetic, but hearing you tell me that made me feel valued and desired. Don't get me wrong, my friend Manolo shows that he cares for me in a friendly manner, but with you, it just feels different."

"I wouldn't necessarily call it charm. I'm just being one hundred percent honest with you. No woman deserves to be treated like that, it's even more fucked up that you're use to it but I intend on showing you how a woman such as yourself should be treated," David smoothly replied as butterflies danced around in my stomach.

"You know...I've been puzzled about something you said at the restaurant".

"What did I say?"

Jeni, a nice dinner date is only the beginning of what I plan to show you.

Those words have been engraved in my mind since he said that.

"When you said the dinner date was only the beginning, I've been eager to know your plans for me."

Stopping in his tracks, he glances at me with this devious glint in his eyes.

"What?" I asked, wondering why he was looking at me like that.

Suddenly, he stepped in front of me, towering over me in his six-foot-five frame. Then placed his hands on my hips, pulling me closer to him. Leaning in, with our faces only inches away from each other.

"If you don't mind, I would much rather show you than tell you," he smirked as he began to inch in closer, brushing his lips over mine.

Before I could answer, he instantly placed one of his hands on my head and.

Kissed me.
