"ENOUGH MOPING! YOU'LL NEVER GUESS WHAT RUBYSTAR JUST SAID!!" A voice shrieked, followed by the sound of moss scattering everywhere.
"That you're a horrible apprentice, I hope." Shimmerpaw said, rolling her eyes.
"What did she actually say though?" Coralpaw asked, she stretched and yawned, accidentally stepping on Silverpaw's tail.
"Watch it!" Silverpaw growled, and Coralpaw leaped out of her way.
"Guys stop, some of us want to know what Rubystar said." said Goldpaw.
"Right!" Said Moonpaw. "So basically I was talking to Rubystar, since she's my mentor and all that I know, it's really cool!"
"I feel sorry for her." Shimmerpaw muttered.
"Shimmerpaw!" Stonepaw hissed. "Shut up!"
"Um, Moonpaw, I think you have a talent for being distracted," mewed her brother, Carnelianpaw.
"Phff, anyways, WE'RE GOING TO THE GATHERING!" Moonpaw yowled.
"What?! WHO? WHO?" Coralpaw yelped.
"By all of Starclan, you woke us up for nothing, this is already my 7th gathering!" Shimmerpaw exclaimed, rolling her eyes and yawning again.
"And hedgehogs fly, you've only been to two by the way, and you're not even GOING WITH US! Only me, Coralpaw, Silverpaw, and Goldpaw." Moonpaw rolled her eyes.
"I'm not?.. Thank Starclan I won't be there when you embarrass the entire clan. " Said Shimmerpaw as she stalked out the den.
"I went last time, and all you do is listen and...yeah that's all," Said Carnelianpaw, sitting up, bumped his head and following Shimmerpaw out the den.
"CORALPAW!! HURRY UP!" Onyxfeather called from outside. "WE'RE TRAINING!"
"Oops that's me!" Coralpaw mewed apologetically. "See you guys later!" And then she ran out the den towards her mentor.
"C'mon Silverpaw, Stonepaw! We're going hunting!" Mewed Goldpaw happily.
"Great!"
And the three of them left the den.
Now the den was completely empty except for Moonpaw.
Sighing, she followed them.
-
"Moonpaw, try tucking your paws in."
Moonpaw glanced up at her mentor, exhausted.
Someone had thought that her and Shimmerpaw practicing battle moves together would be a good idea. They had no idea how wrong they were.
"Ok, let's go again." Called Topezbreeze from across the clearing.
Moonpaw let out a breath, and then leaped above Shimmerpaw.
The she-cat jumped up and caught her leg easily, pulling her down.
Moonpaw tumbled rolling head over heels, landing in an awkward position, no better than her first attempts.
She stood up panting, and Topezbreeze sighed, "I can see that you will become a great warrior like your mother, but that will take some time, and practice.
"I think that'll be enough for today." Rubystar mewed, glaring at Topezbreeze. "The gathering is tonight. Now, go get some rest."
Moonpaw dipped her head gratefully, and followed her mentor into camp.
She walked over to the fresh kill pile, happy to see that it was restocked and there was fresh prey sitting at the top.
She grabbed a vole, and padded over to where Coralpaw and Silverpaw were sharing a squirrel.
"How did training go?" asked Silverpaw."With Shimmerpaw? Never good." Replied Moonpaw, digging into her meal.
"Honestly, I don't see what your brother sees in her," Coralpaw mewed.
Moonpaw looked up from her vole.
"What do you mean?"
"Well, it's obvious that your brother has a crush on her, don't tell me you haven't noticed." said Silverpaw, rolling her eyes.
"W-well I-I m-mean... They're just friends right?" Moonpaw stammered.
"Well..."
"How about we all get some rest?" Coralpaw cut in. "We're all going to the gathering tonight."
Moonpaw nodded, finishing her vole.
All three of them curled up in their nests and started to dream.
_
"Moonpaw wake up! We're about to leave!"
Moonpaw blinked open her eyes, yawning.
"Come on quick!" It was Coralpaw bouncing about, her eyes shining. "We're going to the gathering! Like right now!"
Moonpaw stretched and followed her into the clearing, where already half the clan was waiting.
"Do we have everyone?" Rubystar asked.
Moonpaw's mother, and deputy of Gemclan, looked around and nodded.
"Yes, let's go."
The apprentices were supposed to be in the middle of the group, although they were so excited that most of the way they were running all around, and staying closer to the front than they were supposed to.
Although when Mist Rocks came into sight they backed away into their right spots.
Mist Rocks. The most beautiful place in the forest.
The three rocks with ancient markings that glowed in the full moon, marking the territories, and surrounding the one big one in the center, that all the leaders would stand on, sharing the news of their clans.
The mist and eerie darkness, that in the moonlight, shone as stars.
It was a truly wonderful place.
The bushes rustled on both sides, and Oceanclan, and Stormclan padded out.
Each clan sat around their stone just as Gemclan had done, and their leaders jumped up onto the center rock, Diamondstripe marched up to stand beside Rubystar, her eyes glowed fiercely at the watching cats.
"Moonpaw! Come over here!" Moonpaw looked up to see Silverpaw gesturing for her to come over.
Moonpaw nodded and made her way across the crowd towards her.
"So, we probably have some time before the gathering starts, so I'm going to introduce you to some of the apprentices from the other clans!" Silverpaw said excitedly. "This is Reefpaw, he's from Oceanclan!"
"Hi Reefpaw!" Moonpaw beamed. "Nice to meet you!"
"Hello." He replied, giving her a sort of shy smile.
"And this is Hailpaw, she's from Stormclan!" Silverpaw continued.
"Hey." Hailpaw mewed.
"Hi it's so nice to meet you, Hailpaw!" Moonpaw said enthusiastically.
"And this is Cuttlepaw she's also from Oceancla-
"Shhhhh Silverpaw they're starting!" said an apprentice that Silverpaw had not yet introduced Moonpaw to.
"Oh ok! Moonpaw, come on, we have to get back to the Gemclan's stone!" Silverpaw mewed, shoving her towards the stone where Gemclan was sitting.
"Okay, okay, I know how to walk!" Moonpaw mewed, shoving her back.
Silverpaw grinned, and they made their way over, and sat down just as Rubystar started talking.
"Since all the clans are here, we will start. Tornadostar would you like to share fir-"
"No, we're not all here! Make way for Deathclan!"
