There were a few shots before I hear Bailey yelling. Oh fuck is she shot? I hear her ask for help for Dr Burke and I hate to say it but I'm kind of relieved it was him and not her.
I'm standing in the lobby before my pager starts blowing up with 911's for dennys room and George messaging me frantically. The texts don't make much sense, all I can make out is 'LVAD' and 'cut'. I run into the ER where I see Burke on a stretcher and Christina running a trauma.
"You're running this!?" I ask
"Hell yeah I am"
"The minute you get a chance, get to dennys room."
"Everything okay?"
"No" i say before running
I run back into the room where the whole room has erupted.
"What the hell is going on!?" I say
Then Meredith walks in
"George's pager said it was an emergency?"she asks
"You paged Meredith!?" Izzie yells
"We needed help" George says
"What the hell is going on!" She asks
Christina walks in a few seconds after
"What the hell is going on?"
"That's what I said" mer and I say in sync
"She cut his LVAD wires" George utters
"What do you mean you cut his LVAD wires" mer asks
"What?" I ask
"Elena I texted you"
"George you sent me random letters"
"Are you trying to kill him" Christina asks
"I'm trying to save him" yells izzie
"She's gone crazy, it's not just me?"
"Um"
"EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE" izzie screams
"Izzie..."
"When Burke gets here everything will be fine"
"Izzie..."
"He will know what to do"
"Izzie..."
"About Burke-" I start to say
"What!?"
"He's been shot" Christina finishes
"Burkes not coming"
"No izzie, he's not"
"Christina are you okay?"
"Im fine im fine"
"Burkes not Coming"
"Why didnt i Take the internship in San Diego, non of this would be happening if I was in San Diego" George mutters
"Burkes not coming"
"No Izzie, Burke is not coming"
"I know you're having problems here" Meredith starts
"What, with your possible murder charges?" I say
"And your unbelievably stupid idea about stealing a heart, but Burkes kinda busy right now." Christina finishes
"Dennys gonna die, Dennys gonna die I killed him"
"YOU SHOULDNT HAVE DONE IT"
"George."
"We have to tell someone"
"No! Denny won't get a heart and Izzie will get kicked out of the program"
"Im leaving"
"What?"
"Christina!"
"No, Burke could die too"
I couldn't even make out what we were all yelling after that until Meredith screams at us to shut up.
"No one is leaving, and no one is dying."
"Thank you" Denny says
"Well he's awake" i shrug
"And now he's not" i say
"He's flatlining, wait no there's movement in his heart" Christina says
"Ventilate, George"
"I am"
"Charge paddles"
"200"
"Clear"
"Here, start him on this"
"Well you know-"
"None of us know"
"My chest..." Denny says
"Heart rate 217"
"He's in S.V.T."
"Izzie stop pumping"
"There's no change"
"We need that medicine"
"What medicine"
"I'll know it when I see it"
"The one that stops the heart"
"Hold the mask!"
"It's Adenosine" i yell, except they can't hear me because no one can hear anyone over this yelling
"His heart is speeding up"
"Guys we have to do something"
"We're doing literally everything"
"He cannot take this for much longer"
"I found it"
"What about shocking him"
"Lift up the arm"
"Heading back to flatline"
"He's not gonna die right? Right? Right!?"
"All right"
"You fools better have a good explanation for this." Bailey says as we all turn to look at her
"Step away from the patient"
We all do as Bailey says, besides Izzie.
"Step AWAY from the patient."
"I can't, i have to pump his heart" izzie says
"Olivia, take over for Dr. Stevens, Izzie You're done here, get out of the room."
"No."
"Olivia stay with Dr. Stevens, help her if she lets you. You four, outside. Now!"
"Where was rational thought!? Where was cognitive thinking!? Where was first do no harm!?" She yelled loud enough to get the message across but whispered so nobody could hear
"The morals, the ethics, where was sanity when you four decided to help that girl" she scoffed
"We didn't-" Meredith began
"No, no. No speaking. Nobody speaks. I do not want to have to testify against any of you in a court of law. Not one word." Bailey is very scary. Christina, Meredith, George, and I all looked at each other.
"She cut his LVAD wire." Bailey spoke to herself
"I said no speaking!" She yelled at George
"I didn't say anything!"
It's true, he didn't.
"I said no moving."
That he did do.
"Christina, Burke is asking for you, go." No fair that she gets a way out. Maybe I need to screw an attending.
Bailey then looks back at us "I'm assuming you ran labs?"
We stand there in silence
"I'm asking a question. Answer me!"
"You said no speak-" Bailey cuts mer off
"I know what I said. O'Malley get me the lab results, do not pass go, do not talk to another living soul. Get the labs, get back here!"
George runs off
"Grey, Torres, come with me."
We start walking with Bailey, speed walking really.
"Dr. Bailey ho-"
"Torres not speaking."
I then raise my hand
"Go ahead"
"How's Dr. Burke?"
Bailey sighs "not good."
We're back in Dennys room where I do not want to be. Mer and I are against the wall and izzie is still pumping his heart.
"You're a funny guy" izzie says to Denny
"Izzie, no speaking" mer says
Christina and George are now in the room.
Izzie starts talking back to Bailey until Bailey calls her a visitor and not a doctor in this hospital.
On a good note Denny gets the heart!
All of us are now sitting against the wall under the OR board.
"Baileys treating us like we're children, like we're on a timeout or something" George stammers
"It is a timeout, what we did is way in need of a timeout" mer says
"Agreed. And she's treating us like children because what we did was childish" I add
"You realize we could get kicked out of the program for this?" Christina whispers
"Not we. I did This. I did this. And you're probably right, maybe I should run" izzie says
"Wherever you're running, make sure it's far far away" I say
"Yang." The chief says as we all look up in a panic
"Shep's asking for you"
"Uh for Burkes surgery?"
"Yes hurry up"
"I can't, I'm in a uh timeout"
"Time outs over"
"He said marry me Right?" Izzie asks
"Yes"
"Yes He did"
"Yes that really happened"
"Screw this I'm checking on Denny" izzie says while getting up.
And then there were three.
George and Meredith are using this time to talk about their hookup. Which I was sitting in the middle of them so that made it even more uncomfortable. And George practically admitted that he still had sex with mer even though he knew she didn't want him or the sex? That has to fall under some category of assault right?
