GREYS ANATOMY| Amelia x OC

1 day.

"Callie can you go get the door" I yell across the hall from our apartment
"It's fucking 10pm who's here?" She yells back
"I don't know that's why I'm asking you to go check"

I finally get up when I hear the door swing open followed by someone crying.

"Hey, it's ok, you're okay." I hear Callie say
She has the person in a hug so I can't see who it is.
"Who is it" I mouth
"Grey" she mouths back

I run up to her and grab Meredith's hand where she then lets go of Callie and hooks onto me. Callie then goes back to bed and I bring mer into my room.

"Mer, what happened?"
"I went to go visit my mom and she knew who I was" she cried
"Okay, is that a good or bad thing?"
"I don't know"
"Alright that's okay. Stay here a moment while I get you a glass of water"

I walked back into my room to find mer laying down still in tears. I lay next to her passing her the water and a box of tissues.

"Is there anything else you need?"
"My mom" She responds which has me nearly in tears
"Why don't you walk me through what happened" I say

We talked for almost the whole night before getting two hours of sleep before our shift.

"What are you doing?" Meredith asks Callie and I walking out of her room
"Making breakfast..." Callie answers
"We cook here, it's not tequila and eggs like at your house" I joke

After eating and getting ready we drive to the hospital.

Callie passes by me practically jumping up and down
"I'm a good starer!" She says
"What?"
"I'm a damn good starer"
"Ok then!"

I spent some of my day talking with Mr. O'Malley and the other listening to Callie and Derek gloat about this big spine surgery they're doing.

"Hey Georgie" I say with a giant cheesy smile
"I see you've been talking with my dad"
"Yeah, hey im really sorry about all that."
"Yeah thanks, it just sucks you know?"
"I know. He's a good guy too, I mean really good. You're lucky to have him."
"I am aren't I"
"But tell him I'm not playing cards with him again because he wins every round"
George laughs as he walks away.

I've seen Mr. O'Malleys chart a few times and I won't say it to George but the likely hood of him leaving here alive is slim to none.

Callie and I walk in on George pacing while his dads in surgery.

"You're pacing" I say
"I know"
"That's cool I can pace too"
"Where's your family?" Callie asks
"Eating"
"Everything ok?"
"He's been in surgery for awhile"
"That's good it means they're being thorough"
"Or that there's complications"
"Well they would've told you that"
"Right"

After hearing Callie and George go back and forth about whether he's scared or not I see what Callie was talking about with the staring.
She tried staring us both down.
"Staring doesn't work on me" I say
"Now You're scaring me" says George

A minute later Bailey and mer come in and tell George that his dad made it through. But again by the looks of it, it's not good.

All the O'Malleys walked in the room but George couldn't make it past the doorway. I walk back outside with him.

"You need to breathe"
"He's my dad"
"I know"
"He's my dad"
"I know."

His grip on my arm is very strong, it's too strong so I pull him in for a hug.

"Elena I don't need a hug"
"Trust me, you do."

We sit on a bench for awhile before George decides he's ready to go in.

"Here" I say
"What's this"
"A pinwheel! I stole it from peds. Take a deep breath and spin the pinwheel."
"Elena."
"I can get you one of those mustache things if you prefer" I laugh
"Elena..."
"Just do it"
"See, admit it, it helps"

I catch mer watching her dad through the hospital window.

"You want me to talk or keep walking" I ask her
"Keep walking"
I begin to walk when a few doctors rush in there saying the baby needs emergency surgery
"Elena stop" mer yells
"Why am I so invested" she asks
"Because that's not your dad in there. That's someone else's dad who happens to be yours. You got a father but they got a dad. And that baby, she's your niece. And as much as you don't want that family, you have it, and they're part of it"
"Thank you. You can keep walking now"
I nod and continue walking

It's only a few more minutes until we see each other again in the babies OR gallery.

"Your fathers pacing in the hallways, you should go talk to him" Richard says to mer
"You go talk to him"
"He's not a big fan of mine"
"Mine either"
"Mine either"
Richard and mer both look at me
"Why doesn't he like you?" Asks Richard
"I blew up a glove and stuck the middle finger of it up at him... more than once..."
The gallery goes silent before everyone starts laughing
