It's been a few weeks since the accident I'm finally getting discharged today. Turns out it wasn't an actual nurse but one of the nurses ex boyfriends who went crazy. luckily, none of my friends got hurt but a few other people were.
Something else that hurt was Callie getting married. To George. With no warning. I found out from Alex.
"Dude she's Callie O'Malley"
"What?"
"Your sister"
"What about her?"
"Oh my god. You don't know?"
"Know what!?"
"Dude, your sister and George got married in Vegas"
"Oh god she really should've kept our last name." I laughed
As Alex walked away I couldn't help but think to myself how well I could've planned that wedding.
"Dr Torres"
"Dr Bailey! Are you here to release me?"
"How's your leg?"
"Fine"
"And your brain?"
"Scrambled"
She then threw a pair of scrubs at me
"Mass casualty, get ready."
They only need a few people to go to the sight but we all raise our hands to see who gets to go. And it's everyone but Christina.
We then get to the sight and all I can say is holy shit. A ferry boat crashed and essentially exploded, there had to have been at least 300 injured, not to mention the pile of death.
"Dr Bailey where do we start?"
"Dr bailey?"
"I don't have time to hold your hand. You know the protocol. Go do it"
"Do what?"
"Go help people"
We all disperse to find injured people which isn't too hard. I end up helping a lot of lost kids find their parent but then I usually have to distract them because the parent is usually dead.
"Elena!" Mer yells
"Yeah?" I yell back
"Can you take this kid"
"Yeah, is she hurt?"
"don't think so but I have a pile of people here"
I try and take the kid but she's pretty much glued to Meredith.
"Doctor Bailey" I yell
"Torres"
"Dr Shepherd wanted me to tell you he's on his way"
"Alright"
A few hours later George and Alex are back at the hospital. I don't know where everyone else is. I'm walking around when I find the little girl mer had clinging to her, except Meredith isn't there.
"Hey sweetie, are you okay?" There's tears in her eyes but they're not spilling out.
"Did Meredith bring you here? The doctor?"
Again, I'm met with silence but there's a look in her eyes
"Is Meredith okay...?" I ask hesitantly
She shakes her head no.
"Alright honey can you tell me where she is?"
Great now I've made the kid cry
"It's okay, can you just point which way she went?"
She then brings me over to the water
"Okay, where exactly is Meredith?"
She points in the water and without even thinking I jump in.
The water takes me in and pulls me under. There's a pretty strong current and I'm not the best swimmer, but Meredith is. The waters freezing as I swim my way through it. I'm swimming around until I feel her face.
"DEREK" I scream over and over until there's cracks in my voice
"The hell are you doing Elena"
"It's Meredith- she fell- I can't- I'm not strong enough to drag her out"
He bolts in maybe even faster than me. I'm underwater now lifting mer as high as I can. Once I feel hands lift her up I try and get up on my own but a paramedic comes and drags me out and into an ambulance.
Looking at mer she's almost completely blue. You know in stories they tell you that your lips will turn purple and you'll be like a blueberry. Of course as kids we all laugh but what we don't realize until later is that they're right.

"Female Jane-doe, looks to be in her mid twenties, almost drowned but is definitely hypothermic. We suspect dry drowning but her vitals are stable"
"That's not Jane doe"
"That's Elena"
"Elena as in..."
"Torres"

"Hey why are Callie and Derek sitting in the hall and Why'd you page me in the mid- is that Elena?"
"Yeah, looks like dry drowning but it seems she'll be okay. Meredith's next door, it's not looking good."
"Oh my god, wait why am I needed?"
"While looking on the ultrasound for any injuries we found a baby. And I'm not letting anyone but you take care of her Dr Montgomery"
"Well thank you but you're wrong."
"What? Listen I've spent enough time on the vagina squad to know what a baby looks like"
"No Alex, you found two babies"
"Oh my god. Oh my god!"
