It's my first day back at work and I start it by dropping the babies off at daycare and then entering a very awkward elevator ride!
"She's doing McDreamy" Christina says to me
"What!?"
"She didn't tell me, but I know"
"Gotcha" I say

What I didn't miss about my job was the interns.
"Hello everyone"
"Hello" they all respond
"As you know I am officially back which means no more random residents for you! Hopefully you learned how to do all surgically enticing things but today, we're back to the basics. Understood?"
"Yes" they all mutter
"Dr Shetty" I say
"Yes dr Torres?"
"You don't nod anymore. Nice work" I say
"Now let's go do rounds and meet me back here once you're done!"
They all scatter when I turn to Alex
"Shetty?" I ask
"If you yell he listens, and he hasn't nodded since you left"
I smile before catching up to my interns

I walk over to the nurses station where Christina is rambling to mer about Burke and momma Burke.
"Wanna talk about it?" I ask
"No" she says before talking about it
"Right..."
"1.2.3.4. Come with me"
"Yup, this is the Christina I know" I say

"Elena" everyone whispers to me
"What?"
"Come meet really old guy"
"Really old guy?"
They catch me up before we get to his room
"He's semi comatose" izzie says
"Uh no he's not"
"Yes he-"
"Comatose patients don't move, or speak..."
"Alright fuck Off"
"Jeez bad Day?"
Izzie sighs kicking me out of the room

"Alright!" I say to all my interns
"Shetty pick a fruit."
"Huh?"
"Pick a fruit. Orange, apple, banana, a fruit. Pick one"
"Banana" he says before I toss him one
After all my interns get a fruit I begin teaching
"Now, I don't know what you did or learned while I was gone but I know you didn't learn this. Running whip stitch."
"But, that's impossible? This is an Apple"
"Hey. There's no such thing as impossible in a hospital. You chose the Apple, you get the Apple."
"But-"
"Shut it Dr fennel. I've covered everything, except how to teach you. You have 5 hours and then will present your stitch to me. I don't expect it to be perfect, because mine isn't either, but I expect to be able to tell what it is. 3, 2, 1, go!"
