"You're bleeding."
You glared at the ginger girl in front of you. "Seriously? I never would have guessed!"
Nobara laughed a little before taking a couple steps towards you. "Okay, I hear how dumb that sounded. But seriously - what the hell happened? You look like you just died and got resurrected."
"Mission." You winced as you limped forward. "Didn't go well."
Nobara quickly slipped an arm underneath your shoulders, taking some pressure off your injured legs.
"Ahh. Thanks." You sighed in relief, "Holy shit I thought I was going to collapse on the way back. My legs aren't exactly leg-ing right now."
Nobara raised an eyebrow at your lame attempt at humor but managed a smirk. "Well, you look like you got yourself into one hell of a mess. How bad is it?"
You shook your head, trying to focus despite the growing dizziness. "Nothing life-threatening, I don't think. Just... really messed up. Got ambushed by a couple of curses. Didn't expect them to be that tough."
Nobara's expression turned serious as she guided you carefully towards a nearby bench. "You need to get patched up. We should get you to the infirmary before you bleed out all over the place."
You let out a weak chuckle. "Would you believe that they're actually closed right now."
Her jaw dropped. "Seriously? That's just our luck."
"Yeah. Oh shit - I'm seeing black spots everywhere."
She helped you sit down on the bench and knelt beside you, quickly assessing the worst of your wounds. "Alright, if the infirmary's closed, we'll need to make do. Can you stay conscious for a few more minutes? I'm going to grab some supplies and see if I can manage something."
"Yeah, I think I can handle that," you replied, trying to keep your voice steady. "Just... hurry, okay? My vision's really starting to blur."
Nobara nodded and sprinted off, leaving you to catch your breath and try to stay upright. As you waited, the throbbing pain in your legs intensified, and you could feel the weight of exhaustion pulling at you. The adrenaline that had kept you going was wearing off, and every minute felt like an eternity.
A few moments later, Nobara returned with a makeshift first aid kit, a roll of bandages, and a small bottle of antiseptic. She set everything down on the bench next to you and began to work quickly but carefully.
"Alright, this isn't going to be as clean as if we were in the infirmary," she said, her tone calm and focused. "But we'll make it work. Just try to stay still. And please . . . don't die on me. That wouldn't be very fun."
You nodded your head. "Don't die. Got it. I think I can do that."
"You better - or else I'll kill you."
You furrowed your brows. "That seems counterproductive."
Nobara gave a dry chuckle as she worked on your wounds. "Hey, if you're going to mess up like this, you might as well give me a reason to laugh about it, right?"
You grinned weakly despite the pain. "I guess I'm just here to provide comic relief."
"Well, you're doing a pretty good job at it," Nobara said, applying the antiseptic with a steady hand. The sting made you wince, but you managed to hold still. "Seriously though, you really should be more careful. We've got enough problems without you getting yourself injured every other day."
"I'll try to remember that next time," you said, trying to lighten the mood even though it was getting harder as the pain intensified. "In the meantime, thanks for being my emergency medic."
