33 - The next step with Megumi

Megumi smiled as you wandered into the dining area. Your hands fumbled with a plush bear you carried - one that Yuji had gotten you.

The dark haired boy laughed. "Good sleep?"

You blinked away some remaining sleep. "Yeah. Good sleep. Yuji snuck in at some point but he left earlier."

Of course he did. Megumi expected that. After all, Yuji would always go to you when he needed comfort of some sort. And no doubt, he would need comfort.

Especially after what he had to do.

Megumi, though fond of Yuji's enthusiasm, had begun to appreciate the quiet moments of solitude where he could observe you without the ever-present interference of his friend.

"That's good." He laughed before patting the chair next to him. "Have a seat sweetheart. You hungry?"

You took a seat next to Megumi, noticing the easygoing smile on his face. "I'm actually pretty hungry. Yuta made something, didn't he?"

Megumi nodded, a touch of amusement in his eyes. "Yep. He went all out with pancakes and fresh fruit. I think he's trying to outdo himself."

You chuckled, feeling a warmth at the thought of Yuta's efforts. "He really does spoil me."

As you began to serve yourself, Yuta appeared in the doorway, his expression a mix of satisfaction and fatigue. "Well hi baby! I hope you're ready for a feast."

You laughed as the boy pressed a kiss to your cheek.

"Oh absolutely! This looks amazing. Thank you." You ran a hand through his hair. "You really didn't have to go through all that effort though."

Yuta's cheeks turned a shade of pink. "'Course I did, sweetheart. You deserve it."

As you helped yourself to the breakfast spread, Yuji came bustling in with a fresh pot of coffee. His eyes lit up when he saw you. "Hey, I see you're up and about! How's the sleep?"

"Really good, thanks. I saw you snuck out at some point." You replied, taking a sip of your coffee. "Jeez, you guys really went all out this morning."

Yuji grinned, looking proud. "Well, we wanted to make sure you started the day right. Nothing but the best for you!"

As everyone settled around the table, Nobara sauntered in, holding a small box. "Look what I found in the pantry," she said with a smirk, opening the box to reveal an assortment of pastries. "Thought it might be a nice addition to the breakfast spread. Gojo's got some good stuff in here."

You thanked her and helped yourself to a pastry, savoring the rich flavor. "This is great! You all really are spoiling me."

You laughed as the girl ducked down to kiss you. "Sure. Why not?"

Megumi glared at her before grasping your chair and pulling you closer to him. "Ew. PDA."

Nobara rolled her eyes. "Not like you weren't trying to make out with her at the dinner table - huh Fushiguro?"

You laughed as Nobara's teasing hit its mark, your cheeks warming slightly at the playful jab. Megumi's expression turned a shade of pink, and he gave Nobara a mock glare.

" . . . I will neither deny nor accept these allegations."

Yuji tossed a strawberry at Megumi. "Don't act all high and mighty. We literally all watched you."

"YOU DID THAT TOO!"

Yuji nearly fell out of his chair. "YEAH BUT-"

Yuta rolled his eyes. "Bunch of idiots you three are." He turned his gaze to you and laughed. "I think you're the only sane one out of all of us."
