God you loved them
The way your body ached to be near them at every waking moment
How you long for their touch
For their lips to be on yours
For their eyes to see you and through you
You loved the sparkle that lit their eyes when they laughed
The grin they'd send your way when they teased
And the way the room lit up when you were with them
You LOVE them
And every night when you go to sleep you dream of you together
Having a life you never quite had
Had because your parents didn't show their love the same way you did
But you knew they loved you and if they didn't then you'd lie to yourself that they did even a little bit even if it hurt to know the truth
And maybe the sun to your world shone a bit brighter every time you saw them smile
And maybe you loved them even more than you thought possible
And maybe when you slept beside them some day any ice around your heart would melt and give way to a shining sea.
They make your life brighter everyday
And maybe when you smile you know that
They were your sun and you were simply the moon reflecting their light
A shining star that burned for lifetimes
They lit your world in gold and warmed the soil beneath your feet
And maybe you might grow distant or have a fight but nothing would stop the ache in your heart
The longing for them
Because they were your sun
Your fire to live
And what was a moon without a star
What was a flower without the sun
What was a rainbow without light
And what is life without love
What was life without them ❤️
