The spear crashed into Shadow Protection. The spell's level was far superior to the corrupted centaur, so it could only dream of breaking through the defenses, assuming the losts can dream. The problem was that its attacks could attract the attention of the generals, if they hadn't already.
Therefore, with no time to waste, Eldi took advantage that the centaur was withdrawing the spear to prepare the next attack. At that moment of defenselessness, he Sliced its neck, thus separating it from the rest of its body.
He dropped the axe to grab a spear, and pierced with Javelin one which was coming. Immediately, the high human grabbed the hammer. With Almost Thor, he flew towards the other approaching centaurs, and hit one of them.
With Buttstock, the hammer handle knocked out another. He immediately swung the weapon in a circle with Scatter, which threw them all a few meters away.
He landed on one of them after Earthquake, which crushed its skull. Eldi then put away the hammer to pick up the axe his assistant had brought him. He waited a few seconds for his enemies to rush at him to Shred them. The skill attacks whatever is in front of him, that was, three corrupted centaurs.
With another Javelin, he finished off the one who already had one stuck inside. The previous spear had pierced and anchored it to the ground. Despite its efforts, it hadn't been able to move, and the second spear had finished it off.
There were two left on his flank, which received Fireballs that incinerated them. The level of those centaurs was around 65, so the attacks of a level 100 had hardly met any resistance.
On the other side, a certain drelf was extending her fingers, which had lengthened like branches. Although she couldn't use the power of the nature, as there was none around, she did have her own.
The best thing about the skill wasn't that it held back her enemies, but that those branches were part of her. She could cast spells through the branches. That way, the last corrupted centaurs were cut down by several Water Blades.
Eldi approached the shadow shelter and made a sign, since he couldn't enter again without Gjaki's express permission. Menxilya immediately came out, and looked at him curiously.
"Is it done?" she asked, surprised.
Despite being half a prophetess, she didn't control her power. It was difficult for her to assess the difference in level, especially through the Shadow Protection. In addition, the enemies were quite a few more.
"Yes. Let's go, get on. We have to reach them," Eldi urged her. He bent down, so that the girl could climb on his back.
She did so in one jump, and grabbed him by the neck. Eldi stood up and left immediately, followed by Maldoa. It wasn't a good idea to separate themselves from their companions for too long. Those had gone in another direction, since they had to act quickly. Now, it was essential to reach them as soon as possible.
"There's something to the south!" one of the shadows turned towards that direction, although it was impossible for it to see anything from that distance.
"Not again! Always the same when I have the advantage! Surrender if you want me to believe it!" the other demanded.
They had just started a new battle, and the first shadow had chosen a lost that was at a disadvantage to the second's one. On a previous occasion, it had managed to divert attention with a similar excuse, and had taken advantage of it to send its corrupted being to explore.
In this way, it had managed to cancel the match, to the irritation of its opponent. Since then, the shadow had tried the same trick at least four more times, without success.
"This time it's for real!" the first shadow assured.
"Yes, yes. Then surrender, and we'll check," the second didn't give in.
The first one hesitated. It didn't like losing, but father could get angry if they didn't pay attention to the warnings. Father's anger was worse than losing.
"Okay. But if there's something, we cancel it," it demanded.
"Okay, okay, agreed," the other one nodded, after a few seconds of hesitating.
They were preparing to investigate the situation, when a figure appeared in the distance, rising above the trees. Both of them stared at it, confused for a moment, but they immediately reacted.
"A living! Attack!" it ordered its flying losts.
"A fairy!" the other shadow exclaimed with fear and hatred, as it sensed an aura in that same direction.
That was the last thing they could say. Two Light Arrows pierced their incorporeal bodies, thus striking them down.
While Eldi and Maldoa were dealing with the centaurs, the elf, the lynx and the vampiress were running in the direction of the shadows, with a kraken and a fairy inside the clothes of the first. They didn't have much time, they had to act before it was too late.
Without stopping running, Goldmi shot three arrows at once to create a Light Trap around two losts, which were getting up to receive the living who had dared to enter their domains.
The lynx turned to the left to intercept a corrupted woolly antelope that was trying to Charge towards them. She Jumped on it, and Shredded it. The difference in level, and its condition as a prey without instincts, made it very vulnerable, which was demonstrated when it succumbed in seconds. Without rejoicing, the feline turned around to reach her sister.
Another three losts were received by two Blood Hounds. The vampiress could easily get rid of them instead of wasting mana, but they couldn't afford to waste a second. If the shadows ordered all the losts to attack them, they would be in serious trouble
Another two were shot down by arrows with Purifying Touch and Piercing Arrow, which the archer fired three at a time with Three Better Than One. She didn't stop for a moment.
"Here it's near enough!" the archer signaled. She had the help of her winged sister to measure the distance.
Gjaki took a couple more steps, stopped, crouched down and put both hands together almost on the ground. Her friend jumped over those hands, at which point the vampiress jumped with Blood to the Feet, taking her friend with her. With the addition of Blood Overload and Blood Pressure, she rose to a considerable height. Immediately, she launched the elf into the sky, which lifted her above the corrupted forest.
Goldmi was catapulted upwards, while focusing all her attention on the spot pointed out by the goshawk. With Hawkeye, which had been renamed at the request of a certain albino bird to Goshawkeye, she found the two generals, which were looking at her in astonishment. Without hesitation, she fired at them.
"Aunt Omi, they're gone," Pikshbxgra assured between the clothes a moment later.
The fairy didn't seem to care that they were flying. She had released part of her aura to keep the shadows under control, and attack them if they escaped. However, this time, it wasn't necessary.
"Lots of birds are coming towards you," the goshawk suddenly warned.
"This's going to be complicated," the archer worried.
She was watching the scene of the corrupted birds taking off through her sister. She was still in the air, and had almost reached the highest point. Soon, Goldmi would begin to fall.
