CHAPTER TWO, Vengeance
One would say death is a harsh punishment, no matter what the sentenced has done.
Samansa wakes up, covering her left eye as she stares at the shelf ahead of her. She slowly looks at her own hands, and gulps. "...Wh..What was that?" She mutters, laying back down, and turning onto her side to check the time. 5:03 AM. Right on the clock...
"...Who the hell was that?" She grimaces, trying to think of who that bloodied corpse could belong to. No one she knew, at least. She got a pretty clear view of whoever it was - albeit unwillingly forced to by the dream. Was that what happened in the park? Why the tape was there and why the area was severely monitored by the police? That made the most sense... but why would she be dreaming about the possible autopsy? Or... whatever it was. What did they want her to see? A dead child? She definitely wasn't thinking about it, she didn't even know a child her age was brutally beaten to death.
She sighs, sitting up and putting her slippers on. What a bizarre dream to start the day...
Samansa gets up, grabs her clothes, and steps into the bathroom. She stares into the mirror for a few seconds, before getting dressed. That dream was haunting her, even though she couldn't make out the body anymore... thankfully. That gruesome sight... was... almost too vivid for a dream. She steps out of the bathroom and walks down the stairs to eat breakfast. Her head is spinning, and she can't seem to concentrate on anything that's going on. Her dad leaves for work, and her mum leaves soon after.
Before it hits 5:45, Samansa gets up and begins putting on her coat and hat, staring blankly at the floor. Hopefully, school would take her mind off that gruesome body. It's not like it was her first time dreaming of one. She heads out of the house, locks the door, and begins walking through the snowy neighbourhood. About 10 minutes into her 20-minute walk, she spots her friend, Yotsuba Azakami. She looks to be waving, so Samansa waves back.
"Samansa! Hi!" She runs over to the girl with the ushanka and begins walking alongside her. "Sorry I wasn't at school... I caught a cold on Saturday, and wasn't allowed to go until I was fully healthy."
"I getcha." Samansa nods and looks around the neighbourhood. "Can't say I wasn't worried. You're never absent for more than 2 days at a time."
"...Yeah, but my parents informed Mr Yashiro... hopefully he won't be too mad. Did I miss a lot?"
"You missed an entire unit about the circumference or whatever. Didn't pay attention."
"...Sounds a lot like you, Samansa."
"No shit. I said that."
The two continue walking towards the school building, with Yotsuba greeting their classmates and other schoolmates alike. Samansa listens as her friend talks to the others, impatiently. All she wants to do is go to the classroom and just think, like always. Maybe sometimes answer questions when she finds them interesting... or even go back to watching that damn Forensic show once she gets home. Eventually, Samansa drags Yotsuba into the building, and the two take off their shoes and coats. They walk up the stairs to the classroom and take their seats. Thankfully, Gaku Yashiro sat them next to each other. Mostly because when they were together, Samansa wouldn't get as easily irritated as usual.
"What book are you gonna present at the book fair?" Yotsuba looks up from a flyer she took, and grins.
"...Do I have to present?"
"Yeah, 5th graders have to present. Mr Yashiro is our supervisor, again..."
"Meh, I'll probably do Dogra Magra or something."
