Maxine relaxes for a couple of hours before finally building up the courage to get ready for her dinner tonight. The cold air still swarms her flat so it's a task to actually get up from under the blanket on her couch. Eventually she wanders into the bathroom and begins to undress. Warm water splashes her body as she enters the shower, it seems oddly comforting. She soaks her hair with the water and lets it trickle down until she's fully submerged in its warmth.
Maxine jumps out of the shower, instantly wrapping herself in a cozy, pink dressing gown. Hair is the first step to creating the look that she's aiming for tonight. The restaurant is fancy, but not posh. Maxine opts for a straightened hair look with her bangs framing the sides of her face. She puts on light makeup, starting with concealer to cover up the minor imperfections that her face currently carries, a blemish here and there.
Once hair and makeup is complete, she wanders over to her wardrobe to pick out a dress. The ruffled pattern of a baby pink dress compliments the straight dark hair that she's styled. Maxine loves the colour pink for this exact reason.
Now she waits. Getting ready is always the worst part for Maxine, anxiety of being late means that she starts getting ready way too early, the rest is a waiting game. A very long waiting game.
Her phone lights up with a text from Daisy:
Daisy
Hey! We're ready if you are :)
Maxine grabs her phone and throws it in her bag before walking out of the door.
