Maxine hardly slept last night as she couldn't stop checking her phone to see if Gerard had texted back. She eventually fell asleep at around 5am with still no reply from him.

Maxine wakes up from her slumber and notices that it's already getting dark outside. Winter in the UK means that the sun rises extremely late and sets way too early. The days are shorter which already makes it difficult to fit tasks in as the dark just makes people lazy, it's a fact.

With the sun already setting, Maxine scrambles around for her phone, wondering what time it is. She immediately looks at the time which reads '16:07'. 4 o'clock in the afternoon is not like Maxine at all. She's so annoyed at herself that she doesn't even see the text message that she had received whilst she was asleep.

Gee <3

Who is this??

Maxine doesn't know why she didn't think to say it was her, of course he wouldn't know the random number that was texting him. She silently laughs to herself at her own stupidity.

 It's Maxine :)

Maxine waits for a reply but her mind is now at ease with the fact that he did text back, even if it wasn't the exact reply she wanted.

Only a couple of minutes go by before another text comes through.

Gee <3

Oh hey Max, I'm sorry I took a while to reply, I've been setting up for another exhibition at my studio

Max

It's okay!! I hope your exhibition goes well. I wish I could come and see it :(

Gee <3

Thank you! I wish you were here too x

The kiss at the end of his message makes the butterflies in Maxine's stomach erupt again. Also is he flirting? Maxine smiles at her phone whilst typing out her next text.

Gerard had been waiting for Maxine to text him. Of course he would love if she came to New York but he knew that if he gave her his business card then there was a 50/50 chance that they could at least text each other.

His phone suddenly rings and his stomach drops, expecting to see that Maxine is calling. Instead he's greeted by an incoming call from Jacob. Gerard was so wrapped up in the text exchange that he completely forgot about the meeting he was having with Jacob about his exhibition. Jacob agreed to help Gerard run his upcoming exhibition which means that more people will turn up and have a look. Gerard doesn't typically care about the attention, however with him wanting to become a comic book artist, he needs the publicity to be able to do so.

Gerard answers the phone and tells Jacob that he's on his way. They decided to meet at a cafe a few blocks from Gerards apartment. He grabs his leather jacket as he struts quickly out of the door and throws it around his shoulders as he locks his apartment. He stretches his arms through the sleeves as he jogs down the street.

Jacob is sat at a table by the window in the cafe and Gerard raises his arm to wave at him as he walks in. He grabs a coffee and sits down opposite Jacob. Jacob instantly starts discussing the exhibition as Gerard intently listens to his suggestions. Gerards a great listener, even if he's completely uninterested in whatever he's being told, he still makes an effort to intently listen to what someone's saying. Gerards phone buzzes and he resists the urge to take it out, he knows who's texting him but he chooses to ignore it, giving Jacob his full attention.

Time goes by as the two men discuss tomorrow's showcase and Gerard takes notes of Jacobs suggestions. Jacob's built up a nice relationship with Gerard over the last year, firstly getting him introduced to the company and allowing Gerard to convince the CEO to help him out with his showcases. This has gotten him quite a nice bit of money too so Jacob is all to thank for that. They're not the closest of friends but they are still good friends, especially since Jacob got promoted so he now has more of a say in who the company choose to partner with. Gerard trusts Jacob as he's never had an unsuccessful exhibition event, so he takes everything that he's saying with an open mind.

Gerard feels his phone buzz again. And again. And then a few more times. He can't help but pull his phone out and reply to the texts. Of course they are all from Maxine. He smiles at the texts and continues the conversation with her. Gerard and Jacob had pretty much planned everything now so Jacob didn't mind that much, instead he questioned Gerard about it.

"Who are you smiling at?" He inquires with a lighthearted tone. Gerard looks up from his phone not realising that he's been smiling like an idiot the whole time. "Max."

"Daisy's friend Maxine?" Jacob says with raised eyebrows.

Gerard rolls his eyes, it hurt him that Jacob just called her 'Daisy's friend' but he replies quickly after he realises that he's being dramatic. "Yes, Maxine."

Jacob pulls a surprised face and Gerard laughs before glueing his eyes back onto his phone. The text exchange continues and Jacob just watches as Gerard pulls an adoring facial expression.
