Maxine and Daisy spent all day wandering around the shops. Daisy found lot's of clothes that really suit her style, Maxine didn't find much other than a small patterned top and a cream knitted sweater, similar to her white one that she wears all the time. They had lunch together between the shopping at a cafe which Daisy paid for. Maxine enjoyed her day with Daisy as they didn't spend as much time as they had wanted to together in London.
It's now 7pm and Maxine is trying to pick out an outfit to wear tomorrow when she meets Gerard again. She plans on taking Daisy's advice and letting him know how she feels about him, so she wants to look her best. She doesn't know what they're doing yet but regardless of what it is, she's going to treasure that time before she heads back home. The worst that can happen is that he says he doesn't feel the same, she'll be going home the next day anyways so if worst comes to worst she'll never have to see him again even though it will hurt.
Speaking of the devil, a text buzzes through Maxine's phone from Gerard.
Gee <3
Come outside ;)
Maxine is confused but follows his instructions. She grabs his leather jacket and puts it on as she heads down the stairs to the front doors of the hotel.
Gerard is stood outside waiting, taking drags from a cigarette. He's wearing charcoal black jeans with a darker black denim jacket, his hair is falling roughly on his forehead. He smiles at her before ushering her into his car.
"What's going on?" Maxine asks inquisitively whilst getting into the passenger seat.
"I just want to spend more time with you Max." He smiles and shuts the door.
He pulls away from the hotel and drives whilst singing along to the music that he's playing. Maxine nods her head along to the song, still questioning where they're going.
A few minutes pass of Gerard continuously looking back at Maxine and smirking before he parks on a street. They both get out of the car and Gerard leads Maxine down the street. They walk close to each other, their arms brushing against one another. Gerard looks down at Maxine and smiles as he slowly intertwines his hand with hers. She almost crumbles over his soft and gentle touch as he makes sure that she's comfortable with him holding her hand. They turn a corner and Maxine's eyes light up as calm amber lights hit them. He's taken her to a Christmas market, one of the things she enjoys most about the winter period.
Gerard laughs at how excited she gets. They stroll around the food and drink stalls, picking up some hot chocolates and some snacks which they consume as they look around. There's a variety of little huts selling different things. Gerard spots a small jewellery stall and picks out a necklace with a small heart shaped pendant on it. Maxine puts it on immediately, gratefully thanking him.
In the centre of the little Christmas village is a tree that's been decorated. They notice a stall that has decorations which you can buy and either take home or put on the tree. Gerard buys them both a 'G' and an 'M' decoration. Maxine ties them together and places them on the tree which Gerard finds adorable. They sit on a bench opposite the tree and he wraps his arm around her.
"Thank you Gee." She says quietly, resting her head on his shoulder. Gerard kisses her forehead which makes Maxine realise that now might be the time to tell him how she feels. She sits up and turns to face him, he realises and shifts his body to face her more. He gazes into her blue eyes that are being illuminated by the lighting.
"I've been thinking abou-" Maxine is cut off by Gerards lips smashing against hers. He holds the side of her face, scrunching up her hair in the progress. Maxine grabs his other hand and leans further into the kiss. Gerard feels her smile and eventually pulls away, his heart racing at the compulsive interaction. He's been waiting for what felt like years to finally feel the touch of her soft lips against his.
"Sorry, what were you gonna say?" They both laugh awkwardly, knowing that they both enjoyed it. "Doesn't matter." Maxine says with a grin, immediately going in for a longer kiss. It's obvious to both of them that they each clearly feel the same about each other. Although it's a relief for Maxine, she feels hurt at the idea that she's only got him for one more day and then she might not see him for god knows how long after that.
They finish the make out session and sit and talk for a while with Gerards arms wrapped around Maxine again, trying to figure out what to do tomorrow on her final day in New York. They decide to just meet in the morning and see where the day takes them. Maxine enjoys just being in Gerards presence, she feels safe and happy when she's with him no matter what they're doing, even if they're just sat in silence. Gerard stands up from the bench and takes Maxine's hand, walking her back to his car. They've been out for a couple of hours which doesn't feel like enough for him, he starts driving in the opposite direction to the way that they came. Maxine questions it in her head, but ignores it mostly as she doesn't even know her way around New York.
They pull up on a street which is a couple of blocks away from Gerards art studio. Maxine has a feeling that she knows where they might be, but she doesn't ask. He takes her hand and pulls her gently out of the car, they walk up a black metal staircase which leads to Gerards apartment.
"Gee, I can't I'm so tired! I'll see you tomorrow I promise." Maxine says with a sorry look on her face.
"Aww come on sugar, please?" He begs her to come in for a while. Maxine literally folds at the nickname and agrees to stay for an hour or so.
Gerard steps aside and lets Maxine walk into his apartment. It's so much bigger than hers with a lot more open space. None of the furniture matches but it's all just a perfect representation of Gerard and his style. Gerard tells her to take a seat on the couch whilst he gets her a drink. She sinks into the comfy sofa and Gerard returns with some water that she had requested. He drops down next to her and she snuggles into his side, he grabs a blanket and wraps it around them both. They put on a film to watch but end up spending most of it talking about how they can't believe that they only met not that long ago. It almost feels unreal as Maxine doesn't understand how Gerard can be so perfect for her, it's like it was fate for them to meet at the exhibition.
"Do you really have to leave so soon?" Gerard whines. Maxine sits up. "I'd love to stay for longer but you know, all my stuffs back in London and anyways I really can't afford it." She replies.
"I'll pay for your hotel, please stay Max."
"Gee you can't, you've already treated me so much and I've not even given you anything back."
"Sugar, you being here is enough for me." He whispers sweetly in her ear, using the nickname again because the way she reacted showed that she likes it. His hot breath tickling her skin sends tingles throughout her entire body. Maxine insists that she'll see him again as soon as possible and lays back down, resting her head in his lap. He runs his fingers through her hair in a stroking motion and Maxine completely relaxes. Before she knows it, she falls sleep and Gerard watches her tilting his head slightly to the left and smiling. He stays like this for a while before he reluctantly falls asleep.
