Dating

Dark red, cushioned booths fill the perimeter of the restaurant with smaller round tables in the middle. Maxine immediately feels out of place here, she knew it was fancy but not this fancy. The waiter guides them to their booth before taking orders for drinks. Red wine is ordered for Daisy and Maxine, whilst Jacob gets himself a Jack Daniels. 

The three of them get chatting about what plans Daisy and Jacob have while they're here. The subject of tomorrow night gets brought up by Daisy, asking Jacob to explain the plan. 

"So my company are actually hosting an art exhibition here in London tomorrow night at the Tate gallery, we were wondering if you wanted to come along?" He starts to explain. Maxine goes to answer before being cut off by him saying "There's actually someone I want you to meet."

This instantly intrigues Maxine, who is this? Why does Jacob want her to meet them? So many questions.

"Who?" Maxine replies with a puzzled facial expression. "One of the artists that I met through this company, one of my friends actually. He has a similar art style to you and I think you could learn a lot from him! I'm here on behalf of the company and I asked him if he wanted to show some of his work here in London, Y'know in this big city!" Jacob excitedly explains. 

"Oh okay, yeah sure I'd love to come!" She replies, still questioning who this mysterious man is. 

An hour or two goes by and the whole time Maxine has been thinking about what Jacob said. She's excited, but also nervous to meet someone new. She's always been quite awkward when it comes to meeting new people. However, with it being at an art exhibition, conversation should flow nicely as she can just talk about the work surrounding them. 

Daisy snaps Maxine out of her thoughts with a hot question "So Maxine, have you met anyone yet?"

"Wha- what do you mean?" She replies, still dazed about her own daydreams. "You know, like have you been dating or what?" Daisy has always seemed to be interested in Maxine's love life, probably because she's only ever been with one other person when she was 18, but that didn't last long at all. 

"No aha, I'm just trying to focus on building a career at the moment." She laughs. "Aw that's a shame. I was hoping for some juicy gossip!" Daisy giggles. She's right though, nothing exciting has really happened in Maxine's life. Her last boyfriend was a bit of a prick as he only wanted her for sex. He was toxic and would constantly put Maxine down, picking at her and giving her new insecurities that she didn't even know were there. Of course Daisy helped her gain some confidence back, but Maxine never fully recovered and has since remained a quiet and softly spoken girl.
