For the past month, Maxine and Gerard have hardly been able to keep their hands off of each other. But tonight they have to compose themselves as they're going out with other people, not just alone. Since Maxine stayed in New York she hasn't really done much socialising, her only friends are still Daisy, Jacob and Luke, but she hasn't tried to hang out with Luke since the night that they met. She goes out with Daisy maybe once or twice a week, working around her work schedule and also when Gerard's working. However tonight Gerard has a work party which he's taking Maxine to as they haven't gotten out much recently. Since the date night at the restaurant they've only been on two other dates, both ending the exact same way as each other, sleeping on the sofa because they simply couldn't keep their composures until the bedroom. Although it was rough the first time, these days sleeping together on the sofa feels like a treat, a slightly more exciting experience compared to the comfort of doing it in their bed.

"You're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen!" Gerard tells Maxine for the third time tonight. His eyes dart around her body, admiring the silk, skin-tight black dress which accentuates her figure perfectly. The dress goes down three quarters of her body with a slit going up to her thigh. He runs his hand through her soft, straightened hair whilst his eyes trace over the bridge of her nose, looking at each individual freckle before locking onto her eyes. She heads into the bathroom and picks up an eyeliner pencil on the way. Gerard follows her to the mirror, grabbing onto her waist as she applies the finishing touches to her eyes.

"Wha- what are you doing?" He questions as Maxine turns around and pulls his eyes downwards. His eyes twitch and he tries to back away but before he can, the makeup has already been applied to his face. He looks in the mirror and is surprised by what he sees.

"Oh my god, you look so hot right now!" Maxine exclaims, biting her lip with a facial expression of desperation and desire. He smirks at her in response. The eyeliner with his jet black hair and black suit makes Maxine completely weak at the knees and she practically melts at how good he looks. "Seriously Gee, I don't think I'll be able to keep myself off of you tonight." Gerard pulls her close to him and she leans in for a kiss before he places his finger onto her lips. "Too bad sugar." He whispers into her ear, she rolls her eyes at him jokingly.

The party is chill, a nice bar down a side street with a lot of business men. Gerard doesn't even know half of the people here, only a couple that he's briefly met through Jacob. Jacob was supposed to come but he's still not up for going out, especially as he's just started back at work again. Therefore Maxine knows nobody there, only Gerard so they've been mingling slightly, keeping close to each other due to awkwardness when it comes to socialising. Gerard buys Maxine a few drinks which is helping her become more social, eventually she persuades him to stop spending money on her and she'll buy her own drinks.

The night goes on and Gerard is slowly making some new friends, speaking for a while with a man called Steve. Meanwhile Maxine keeps buying drinks in the hopes of being able to speak to people confidently. She doesn't get drunk often, she doesn't even know her own limits. She stumbles back over to Gerard who instantly notices her drunk state. He motions to Steve quickly as he moves towards her.

"Max, are you okay?" He says, slightly panicked with worry in his eyes. She nods and sends him a grin, still barely able to stand up straight. He holds her upright and looks into her glazed eyes. "Max?" She ignores him.

"Max!" He yells, shaking her slightly. She finally snaps and looks at him. "You need to sit down, drink some water." He hands her the glass of water that he's been drinking out of. She pushes it away, spilling some of it down his shirt.

"No Gee!" She says playfully, pulling at his collar. "Max stop it, please!" He demands, trying to sit her down on a chair. "Come on, come and have one drink!" She whines at him, her intoxicated mind forgetting the damage that it would cause.

"Max I can't, and you shouldn't either!" He tries to sit her down again but she resists him.

"Get off me!" She shouts, drawing everyone's attention to them. Gerard scans the room, embarrassed. He's quickly pushed away into a wall as she struggles through him.

"You're so fucking boring Gerard!" She yells at him as she stumbles quickly out of the bar. He takes a moment to compose himself and stand up straight again, in shock at Maxine's actions.

"You alright? She's a handful isn't she!" Steve jokes at him. He ignores him and quickly rushes out of the bar when he sees Maxine go past the window, still barely holding her balance.

"Max come back!" She hears his voice call out at her, which she chooses to ignore. "Where are you going?"

She stops and turns around to him. "Away from you, to find someone more interesting? Leave me alone!" She shouts back at him, slurring her words. Gerard's heart shatters at her words, he knows better than anyone else the kind of state that she's in, yet he can't help but feel upset at the words that she probably doesn't actually mean. He hesitates before following her as she struts down the street.

Maxine's eyes dart all over the place, trying to find somewhere to go. She enters another bar and instantly recognises a familiar face.

"Luke!" She exclaims, running over towards him and embracing him in a quick hug which he is surprised at but quickly hugs her back. Gerard feels himself burning up when he enters and sees them together. Luke begins introducing Maxine to his friends but it soon interrupted by Gerard storming over. He composes himself and leans against the bar.

"Max, please. Come with me." He says softly, holding back tears. She completely ignores him and laughs at whatever Luke's saying, making him feel even more hurt. He slams his fist down which catches the groups attention.

"You make sure she gets home safe, okay?" He says aggressively whilst pointing to Luke before walking out of the bar. He turns back as he walks out and sees her laughing again, this time touching Luke's arm. A tear streams down his face, smudging the eyeliner that she applied earlier.
