Maxine wakes up sweating and wondering where she is. She turns over and comes face to face with Gerard, squeezed next to her on the cold sofa. She taps his shoulder lightly to wake him up.

"What time is it?" His raspy voice speaks into her ear. The room is lit by a small lamp in the corner near the TV but outside is still dark. "I don't know." She replies before getting up off the sofa. "Come to bed Gee." He stretches his arms out and pulls her back down, spooning her in a cuddle as he smothers his face in the hair falling over her shoulder. "One minute please." Maxine lets out a sigh and grabs his hands, pulling them up towards her chest. Her eyes close for a moment.

When her eyes open again, daylight is filling the room. She feels Gerard's breath down her neck and his arms are still enclosing her, holding her tightly as if she's a teddy bear. He wakes up soon after when he feels her repositioning her body. He sits up slightly, still holding her as he pulls her up with him. His eyes shine in the sun when she turns to face him with a smile.

"Morning!" He says quietly, the rasp still evident in his voice. "You okay?"

She nods at him. He sits up again, this time wincing in pain. He tilts his head back and laughs. "It's not the most comfortable sofa is it." He pauses. "Remind me why we didn't just do it in bed?"

"You couldn't hold yourself back!" She points at his chest, placing her finger down on it whilst giggling. He rolls his eyes. "As if you didn't want it as much as me!" They both laugh for a moment.

"Of course, the whole night was really good." She says honestly. He nods and grins at her, agreeing that they both enjoyed last night. "Let's not forget your singing!" She continues whilst giggling, he laughs with her but doesn't say anything about it.

"I'm serious though, you don't realise how good you are Gee!" He blushes then quickly gets up and grabs a piece of paper from the shelf next to the TV. A folded up piece of paper is dropped on Maxine's lap, she opens it up whilst he sits back down next to her. She reads through his handwriting and discovers that it's the lyrics of the song he wrote about her.

But you'll never fight alone

You're beautiful to me

Though I'm empty when you go

Their hearts don't beat like ours

I'm thinking of you every night, every day

These lyrics stand out to her as she reads through them all. "I mean every word Max." He speaks up softly whilst stroking her hair. Warmth flows through her heart and her entire body, never has she seen anyone care so much for someone the same way that he displays his love for her.

"I love you, more than I could ever say." She tells him.

"You don't have to say anything sugar." He pulls her chin upwards towards him and caresses her cheek, encasing her in a heart-felt kiss.
