Everyday Pleasures
AFTER Chrollo hung up on Uvogin, another spider leg who was a hulking man with wild hair and a fierce expression, he sighed. Uvogin had explained that there was no possibility of a traitor amongst them despite the fact that the vault they were targeting at the auction was empty. Feeling someone's stare, Chrollo glanced up towards Phinks who seemed who was looking at him with a deepening frown."What is it, Phinks?" He asked as he leaned forward with his hands on his knees.
"I get that you're insistent on that woman being returned to you... but I don't see why you sent Pakunoda out when her ability could be useful to us in case something goes awry with the plan," he stated in reference to (Y/N) and their entire plan to raid the Underground Auction.
"And?" Chrollo tilted his head downwards.
"And it just seems out of character for you, boss," Phinks scowled as he looked away. "Nothing about your actions towards her make sense."
"They make perfect sense."
"Huh?" Phinks scoffed.
"Do you remember what I told you when I returned to the Troupe after having disappeared after that job?" Chrollo asked as he set both the phone and his book down to start approaching Phinks, the man obviously tense when his muscles stretched taut through his jacket. "I gave you the clearance to do as you pleased, but only to the point where the insurance of the spider living would occur.
"What does this have to do with her?" Phinks raised a brow—or, his lack of one.
"It has everything to do with her," Chrollo stated with a sick smile as he grabbed Phinks by the neck so that they were now eye to eye. "Because she is the reason why this spider has survived so long. She is the reason why I have kept the spider alive for so long. She is the reason why I am alive. She is the reason why you are still here. I see no difference between people and puppets, and the Troupe lies firmly in the latter part for me. But (Y/N)... she is someone who is unfathomable."
Phinks swallowed thickly.
He knew Chrollo as someone who was always calm and composed, yet now he could see that when it came to (Y/N), he became erratic.
Impulsive, even.
Chrollo finally released Phinks with a more restrained smile, but deep in his grey eyes there was a shimmer of obsession and infatuation for the woman that he spoke of. In that moment, Phinks finally understood that to Chrollo, (Y/N) meant everything to him. Whether he would have sacrifice the blood of others, or the Troupe's, he would make certain that she belonged to him. And, as if in parallel to Phinks' realization, (Y/N) turned on her heel and brandished her scythe.
No one was behind her.
Ignoring the stares that the people around her gave her, (Y/N) let her scythe fall back through the misty portal she had conjured. However, her guard was now up, her eyes casting suspicion upon anyone who set foot in her vision. Even though she was at the night market of York New City, many people from many places milling about to eye the goods being sold, she was still able to pick out those she didn't trust. And, because of Illumi creeping somewhere she couldn't spot, she felt eyes on her constantly.
But, it meant he was closer to her than not.
However, even with him "watching over her," as he liked to call it, she couldn't help but feel a sense of unease prickling at her skin, her muscles tensing as if ready to strike out at anything that looked like it might cause her harm.
Something's wrong.
I don't know what, but I shouldn't be here.
Not out in the open.
Since she knew that Chrollo was in the city for a specific reason, (Y/N) didn't want to stick around for long, instead using her portals as a way to maneuver herself out of the city. Illumi, somehow, was always able to find her since she would then feel his eyes on her and his presence. She honestly didn't care, as he posed no threat to her, instead only focusing on leaving. Not taking the risk of booking an airship due to its traceable log, she merely continued moving, deciding not to look back.
She left Chrollo once.
So, she would do it again.
But if worst came to worst, she would merely do what she had claimed: she would kill him
But before (Y/N) could even step foot outside of the city she was beginning to despise, her current trail being on the outskirts of York New, she suddenly stopped when sensing someone else following her besides Illumi. And as if he sensed them too, he suddenly appeared next to the woman whom he had grown to absolutely revere.
"You sense them too, then?" She hummed in question to the otherwise silent assassin.
He nodded.
Sweeping his blank gaze around the rather deserted part of the city he found himself in, crumbled buildings with smashed in windows and some shady characters that kept to themselves the only sights he could see, he could feel his blood start to heat up as his fingers clenched into fists. It wasn't natural for him to get this agitated, but something about (Y/N) and the thought of someone other than him following after her royally pissed him off.
From the bloodlust that practically rolled off of him in waves, it was obvious.
Even the one watching them could feel her brows twitching in disbelief at having to deal with two powerful entities who didn't seem none too pleased about her presence. Letting out a sigh, knowing that she had already been found out, she stood and walked towards the two. Pakunoda smirked at them when she stepped out from the shadows, her hands on her hips.
"I'll handle her, (L/N)," Illumi stood in front of (Y/N) as his fingers cracked, pulling his pins out from seemingly nowhere at the same time Pakunoda pointed her two handguns at them.
"I wouldn't be so sure of that," Pakunoda hummed, her eyes narrowing.
The boss wants her... so I will obtain her.
No matter the cost.
