Everyday Pleasures
REAPER wasn't surprised when she failed the second part of the exam, but she was, however, taken aback when Menchi decided to fail everyone since none of their dishes suited her tastes. Gasps and outraged cries filled the air, a terrible crash silencing those pleas. A heavyweight man even dared to mock Menchi while smashing his cooking facility to the ground due to his outrage."Oh, this is a rather interesting predicament," Hisoka mused from beside her, a rather heavy aura around her that was seeped in so much bloodlust she wasn't sure if it were for Menchi or for the other man. "To think we've all failed..." His eyes then met hers under her head, smirking as he uttered, "I'm surprised to find that you don't know how to cook, Reaper. Why not?"
"I was trained to fight, not for the kitchen," Reaper answered, knowing such a vague point wouldn't give away anything to her identity. "That's all."
"Is it really?" Hisoka smirked.
"Yes."
"In all honesty, you say you don't want to involve yourself with me, but here you are, answering my questions," he chuckled, completely ignoring Menchi and everyone else by that point. "My dear, Reaper... I don't think you're being very honest with yourself now. I am quite the entertainer, am I not?"
"...We shall see," Reaper replied after a moment of silence, further enriching Hisoka's smile.
Menchi then stole her attention away when she stood her swiftly, her heels clicking against the stone steps as she descended and announced, "Listen here. We frequently venture into the caves of ferocious beasts in search of the finest ingredients." Holding up her arms, she revealed in her hands curved that she then twirled around in a perfect circle, continuing without missing a beat, "Every Hunter is proficient in at least one form of martial art. You lack focus, and the will to experiment with new things." Pointing all four knives at the group, she gave a chilling glare whilst ending her speech with, "And that alone disqualifies you all from becoming Hunters."
Reaper didn't so much as twitch, her expression hidden under her hood's shadow a mask of stone, detached from any semblance of emotion anyone else in the crowd would be feeling.
What a shame.
I kind of wanted to be a Hunter just to see what it was like, but oh well.
I can find something else to ease my boredom.
However, before any course of action could be taken, a loud voice from overhead descended upon their ears, "Well, that said, it seems a bit excessive to fail every single applicant!"
A large airship soon flew over the manor with two large red X's across the side, the symbol of the Hunter Association. Murmurs shifted throughout the crowd as the blimp then lay directly over their heads, one of the windows opening to reveal an elderly man who jumped without any hesitation. He landed with a heavy crash, dust and bits of earth clouding the contestants vision before they could clearly see the man. He had deep inset wrinkles in his skin, a long, graying beard, and a hunched back that didn't seem to take away from his strength.
