(Y/N) knew.

She knew that no matter where she went, Hisoka, Illumi, and Chrollo would just hunt her down again. She knew that despite all of her powers and her cursed gift of immortality, they would only continue to run after her until she submitted to them. However, she was keen on making sure that such a reality would never come true.

Stabbing her arm through one of her portals that she created, she grabbed onto another sharpened blade that she infused with her Nen to cut through Hisoka's Bungee Gum aura before bounding away from him. This stunned him, as no one and nothing before had been able to do such a thing, Hisoka then merely smiling and trembling with pleasure since it once again proved to him why (Y/N) was such a highly sought-after person.

She was powerful.

Immensely powerful.

And just being in her presence alone was enough to make one's knees go weak.

"You never fail to bring me ecstasy, (Y/N)!" Hisoka trilled as he avoided the deadly blade of her scythe and knife, his amber eyes flashing with delight as he did so. "More... give me more! Ah... this feeling is so addictive~."

Ignoring his taunts and moans, knowing that he was just trying to get under her skin, (Y/N) jumped away from him so that she was now back to back with Gon and Killua who were dealing with a troublsome enemy of their own: Illumi. Killua, practically paralyzed to the spot with uncertainty, was trying to overpower the overwhelming sensation in his mind that he shouldn't fight his own flesh and blood, now forced to watch Gon try and handle Illumi on his own.

When he felt (Y/N) behind him, he stiffened.

"Boy..." she murmured lowly, her eyes still on Hisoka while her muscles stayed tense. "I don't know you, but you know me."

He didn't respond.

She took that as a sign to continue.

"I know that you're not afraid... especially when it comes to fighting for your friends as I've witnessed just now," she began, having to halt what she was saying momentarily to defend herself against Hisoka before she was next to Killua once more. "Continue to resist. Continue to do what you know is right. I hope that you can trust me and believe in my words. Just keep fighting for them."

Before Killua could even hope to retort, Hisoka dragged her away.

But it was enough.

Every time he faces Illumi, everg time his dark and blank eyes drilled into him, he felt as if he would lose. Now, Gon, Kurapika, Leorio, and (Y/N) were with him, reassuring him that there was nothing to be afraid of. Screaming out in agony, Killua rushed forward with his fingers curled into a fist, socking Illumi in the face.

(Y/N) wasn't looking, but she smiled.

He did it.

With renewed vigor, she pushed Hisoka back farther and farther with her scythe, spinning it expertly around her fingers and body whilst moving lithely around each of his attacks. They weren't lethal by any means since he was only attempting to keep her down, but hers were quite the opposite. If she was ever to be free of them, they would need to die. If that was by her own blade so she would be rid of them, then so be it. The blood of countless stained her hands, so a few more wouldn't make any difference.

Swinging her scythe under Hisoka's feet and knocking him off his balance, (Y/N) didn't waste any time in stabbing the blade through his heart. He choked as blood dribbled from his mouth, his eyes widening in shock and disbelief.

She then ripped the weapon out of his body.

He gripped her body tightly before he could fall, forcing out, "(Y/N)..."

He then went limp.

He was dead.

Not even a second later, she could feel Chrollo's presence vanish as well.

All that was left was Illumi.

All of them—(Y/N), Gon, Killua, and Kurapika—stood before him. Blood stained all of their clothing, their eyes holding nothing but a determined gleam as they stared down their last remaining enemy.

"You cannot escape me, (Y/N)," Illumi interest, his gaze deadly and imposing.

"Leave her alone, Illumi," Killua stood in front of her, his blue eyes narrowed into a piercing glare while his lips twisted into an aggravated sneer. "Your fight is with me. I'm done with being manipulated by you... and (Y/N) is, too. So you either face me, or today is the day where you'll die."

The air turned tense.

Then, Illumi moved to strike, but almost instantly, Killua was in front of his brother. His hand stabbed through the other's chest, grasped his heart, and squeezed.

Illumi faltered.

His hand reached out to (Y/n) one last time before he collapsed, dead.

Killua fell to his knees soon after.

Even though Illumi was twisted beyond repair, he was still his brother. And despite everything, there was still a type of family bond between them. Yet, as Gon and Kurapika placed their hands on his shoulder, he knew he would be okay since he still had his friends—people who he considered family just the same. Then Killua's gaze snagged on Leorio, his eyes glazed over and staring out at nothing, (Y/N) kneeling beside him.

"What... what are you doing?" Killua asked as he approached her, wishing to tear his gaze away from his brother's body.

"I think I can save him," she murmured.

Gon and Kurapika gasped.

"You can do that?" Gon questioned as he gripped her arm tightly, his expression one of hope as he searched her eyes. "You could really bring Leorio back? You're serious!?"

"I think so..." she mumbled as she placed her hands on either side of the man's face.

Closing her eyes, (Y/N) transferred some of her life force to Leorio, the other three watching in amazement as the gaping wound in his chest slowly stitched together while a (F/C) aura surrounded his body. It was truly an amazing process, and even Kurapika, who possessed a healing chain on his thumb, couldn't revive someone from death. When she was done, all waited with bated breath as they watched Leorio. He suddenly sucked in a breath, and his eyes flicked open.

"Leorio!" All three boys cried at once as they embraced him, (Y/N) watching with a small smile as he sputtered out in confusion whilst holding the others who were crying.

Leorio then looked at her.

He knew.

Mouthing the words 'thank you,' knowing that she was the very reason that he was somehow still alive, he then nodded in respect towards her. After that, the five began their rounds of York New City to help the locals in any ways that they could, whether it be putting out fires or saving those still alive but trapped in burning buildings.

(Y/N) couldn't help but smile.

For she knew that as soon as she saved Leorio, she was no longer invincible.

She was no longer immortal.

She could finally rest, but as she looked around at Gon laughing sheepishly with Killua as they helped an old lady, at Kurapika who was directing people to safety, and to Leorio who was doing his duties as a doctor, she knew that she could maybe live on just a little bit longer.

She was around friends.

So now, she could continue forward, finally released from the burdens of her past.
