That "fuck" gave him away.
Abe Yuumi's grin turned into a smirk. "So, you remember." Yuumi looked at the other players who were waiting around. "None of these idiots remember being in before." Sora looked around at the faces of the players, not recognizing any of them. Sora did give himself a bit of grace because there were thousands of players in the borderlands, he didn't meet 3/4th of them. Besides, Sora only remembered the people who mattered to him.
Yuumi wasn't one of them.
"You died."
Yuumi shrugged. "No, I stabbed the other guy and made him fall onto me. No one pays attention to the ones playing dead back then." Yuumi said.
Sora made a face. "And you decided to become a citizen?" It honestly wasn't that surprising. To be honest, Sora originally thought that Yuumi was already a citizen after finding out some of the players could be citizens. At the time, Yuumi was dead, so it didn't matter and when Aya revealed herself as a citizen, the thought went out the window. Sora never thought he'd see Yuumi again.
"And you remember." he repeated, pointing to Sora. Yuumi was impressed that after all these years, Sora remembered the games and the borderland. Like he said before, the other players had no memory of their prior time there. He wondered what made Sora special. "You are in for a treat, Sora." Yuumi's arm draped across Sora's shoulders. Sora shrugged him off. "What? Don't tell me you aren't excited. You loved the games. You literally were the one itching to go back down and play, no matter how many days you collected on your visa." Yuumi stood in front of him, hands on his shoulders.
Sora may have found the thrill of the games in the beginning, but once the Witch Hunt began, he started to feel differently. Then the face cards happened – taking out the King of Spades was a fucking job. He nearly lost his life, and he regretting not pulling himself up to get back to Chishiya after the death happened. Sora felt as he went through the face cards that he was returning to his old self instead of continuing on with the persona that he put on at the Beach and during the number cards.
Now, he had no fucking idea what he was dealing with.
"By the way, did you see Banda?" Sora opened his mouth to say no, but a rush of a memory came over him. He was getting a bottle of water from the refreshments tent when he saw someone he didn't recognize right away. Sora honestly had no idea who this person was who handed him the bottle of water. But when Sora took the bottle, there was something else attached to it. Sora's eyes locked with Yuumi. A darker smirk appeared on Yuumi's face. "Joker." Yuumi tongue stuck out between his teeth, keeping his voice low so the others didn't hear him.
That joker card was in his jeans back at his apartment. Why was he chosen to play the Joker card?
Sora didn't bother asking if Yuumi was going to tell him anything – what fun would that be for a citizen? So, he asked nothing question, "Why the fuck are you here?" Sora asked. "You are a citizen; you chose to live here. You don't need to play the games."
