Chapter 20-⚠️Ridealong⚠️

⚠️This is a mostly Red centric chapter, a lot of police terminology below, mentions of violence and drugs, nothing too crazy⚠️

Saturday 5th October 2024-Wonderland

The last few weeks had been a blur, Red and Chloe had been living with their families but having daily meet ups, Red was liking the online school while Chloe detested it, and for the most part everything had been going well in their lives, except for one thing. Both girls had started to share dreams, seemingly memories they didn't actually have. They figured it was the result of their time traveling and left it at that.

Red and Chloe had spent the day together, mostly just bed rotting in each other's arms, but Red had an Explorer meeting later that night, and she was excited about it. The meeting prior they had been told that this Sunday was gonna be special, it was task force day, they would be riding with members of the joint narcotic taskforce as they went out in force. Red hadn't shut up the whole day about it, while Chloe was wondering when she'd stop talking(literally me and my ex).the girls had planned a date the next day, dinner and a haunted attraction, Red wouldn't give Chloe any details which concerned her.

As the time grew nearer to 6 PM, the girls had gotten up. Chloe played on her phone while Red had gone to change into her uniform. Red walked out of her bathroom and over to the hook on the wall that held her duty belt. She put it on, securing it to her pants.

R-"Alright, Chlo, so what's your plans for tonight?"

C-"Probably just hang out with my family. Why?"

R-"Just wondering."

Red walked over to Chloe, who had stood up, and pulled her into a hug before kissing her. Chloe kissed back.

C-"Be safe tonight."

R-"I will."

With that Red flicked a card against her door, Chloe gave Red another kiss and then walked into her room. As the door shut, Red threw another card against her door, then walked through into the lobby of the ACPD station. She walked into the meeting room and said hello to now Sgt McCain. He had been promoted after his actions during the shooting at Auradon Prep. The other explorers, as well as Sgt Williams, showed up a few minutes later, and then an entire group of cops walked in, in dark green tactical uniforms, rifles slung over their torsos.

M-"Alright, Cadets, it's the night we have all been waiting for. We are joined by members of our Joint Narcotics Interdiction team. These guys are the best of the best that the agencies across the county have."

Sgt McCain introduced the members of the task force before assigning Cadets to a member, Red was assigned to Deputy Bartlow."

M-"Alright Cadets, you join your ridealong for the night, enjoy yourself and stay safe, I'll see you out there."

Everyone got up to leave, and Red met up with Deputy Bartlow. He was pretty young, tall, and athletic. Red followed him out to his car, which surprised her, a nearly brand new looking Dodge Durango, the unit was jet black, the only thing that told you it was a cop car was the huge wraparound pushbar hanging from the front, the steel rims, the spotlight, and the mess of antennas on the roof that Red swears could communicate with Mars.

B-"Alright I have a few rules before we start this, first thing is keep the car nice, it's brand new and very expensive, second thing is, if you have any questions or concerns ask or tell me right away do not wait, if you see anything funky tell me right away aswell, and third thing, what's your shirt size?"

Red looked at him kinda puzzled.

R-"Small, why?"

Deputy Bartlow opened the truck and produced an olive green vest that said "sheriff" in white across the rear.
