The full moon rides high in the sky, the excitement in the air is mounting. The entire pack has gathered at the clearing, that borders the Mystic Falls Forest. Atlas scans the crowd, but he cannot see Caden. It his final night at Mystic Falls, and he is still yet to confront the other Alpha. He is running out of time; he has to confront Caden tonight.

Over the last three days, the tactical games had taken precedence, and Atlas never found any time or opportunity to approach Caden. Atlas's team, under his guidance, had gone into full espionage mode, remaining out in the wild for the entire duration of games. Their skills at camouflage and secrecy had led them to become the victorious team. Although Atlas was proud of the outcome, it had meant sacrificing meeting with Alpha Knight and finding out the truth. Now the games were completed, confronting Alpha Knight was at the forefront of his mind. But where is he?

Stepping into the clearing, Knox addresses the crowd "thank you all for coming out tonight. What an excellent turn out we have, I think just about every member of Mystic Falls is here, you have certainly done your pack proud. Of course, we are missing one very important person, your Alpha. Alpha Knight will not be joining us for the pack run and has asked me to step in and lead the run tonight". Most of the pack members give a slight nod in acknowledgement, they do not seem surprised their Alpha is not present tonight.

"Tonight is not only a full moon, but also the three-year anniversary of Delta Ava's death. I also lost my Delta, Brandon, three years ago today. Tonight, we will honour their memory by running under the light of the full moon and receive our goddesses blessings. In the vein of the tactical games, we have just completed, I would like to do the pack run a little differently this time" says Knox as he glances over at Sophie, who is standing with most of the females of the pack.

"As you are aware, I am not the only visiting leader here tonight, we have the greatly esteemed Luna Sophie here with us. I would like to challenge Luna Sophie to a game – males versus females. Luna Sophie will lead the female pack members to start the run. The she-wolves will be given a 30-minute head start, then the males will be permitted to join. Every male is to choose a female to find or should I say capture. The late Delta Ava was renowned for her tactical skills, and I invite all the females to honour her tonight by using all your skills to out manoeuvre your male counterpart. As the highest rank wolf here, naturally my target tonight will be Luna Sophie" he gives Sophie a heated look.

All the wolves erupt in cheers and clapping and begin talking excitedly amongst themselves. The male wolves are eyeing up which she-wolf they want to chase, and the females are giving seductive looks back. This was not going to be any old boring pack run, this sounded more a like a mating chase!

Luna Sophie steps into the clearing, head held high, looking straight at Alpha Knox "on behalf of the females here tonight, I would like to say we accept your challenge. In honour of Delta Ava, we will live up to her high standards, and I promise we will not make it easy on you. If it's a chase you want, it's a chase you'll get!"

Christie, Lina and all the females begin clapping and stamping their feet in support. The males answer with growls and howling. Luna Sophie leads the females into the treeline, away from the hungry male eyes, where they strip their clothing and shift.

Beta Jaxon holds up a stopwatch "Your thirty minutes starts now!" he yells. The female wolves howl as they sprint off into the forest. The males begin pacing back and forth, jostling each other for position, and edging closer to the treeline. They have their heads tilted back sniffing the air, trying to scent their chosen female, chomping at the bit to shift and start the chase.

Atlas approaches Jaxon "Beta Jaxon, why is Alpha Knight not leading the pack run tonight?"

"Caden never joins in on the anniversary pack run. The memories are just too painful, and as a blue blood it is difficult for him to control his wolf. His wolf is just too powerful, especially during a full moon. His wolf cannot let go of their lost mate and seeks to go into the wild for good. It's a constant battle for Alpha Knight to restrain his inner beast" replies Jaxon.
