It's been three months since the last time Taesan saw Leehan. And along those three months were the most tiring and hectic days that Taesan despised for all his life.
The only communication he has was the letters that he sents for Leehan but Taesan never got any reply.
He's currently on the western side of the Earth, far from South Korea, after his father who technically did a mind game and forced him to go here. His father even confiscated his phone like he's a teenager that's grounded.
All he did inside those 3 months were checking papers, doing his training as CEO, and meeting different sorts of people.
Although Taesan is used to it since he's been having those for years now, he couldn't understand why his father would go to such lengths.
Yes, he could just run off and go back to Korea but if he did, he's afraid that his father might do something towards Leehan. And that was one of Taesan's fear.
"And... done! Finally!" Taesan groaned as he leaned back to his chair.
"I must admit that your skills have improved sir Han." Myunbi said as he checked the papers.
Park Myunbi was one of his father's most trusted men, the kindest and the one who's Taesan is most closest with.
"Does that mean I can now go back?"
Myunbi nodded, organizing the papers and turning his back on Taesan.
Taesan, on the other hand, jumped on his seat and quickly packed his things.
"Why are you so excited? The last time I've seen you like this was when Mr. Kim visited the manor." Myunbi said, still organizing the papers.
"Well guess what?" Taesan said, running beside him. "It's because of the same person."
Myunbi looked at him and smiled. "He's the only one who could really break your mask that you always show to the world."
"I carefully choose the people whom I show my side of. Only those that I really trust."
"You never changed since you were young." Myunbi said, locking the suitcase. "I hope you'll keep your promise to Mr. Kim."
"Of course! I would protect him no matter what!" Taesan said, smiling.
Flashback
"Leave him alone," Taesan said firmly, his voice carrying an authority beyond his years.
The boys backed off, their laughter replaced by nervous glances. Leehan looked at Taesan, his eyes filled with gratitude.
"It's all okay now," Taesan whispered softly as he gently rubbed his back.
His inquisitive eyes landed on his name tag, which read "Kim Donghyun."
"Kim...Donghyun?" he slowly pronounced, the name foreign to his tongue. In response, he looked at him to meet the boy's gaze.
He tilted his head, revealing a curiosity that contrasted with the severity of the situation. "Oh! I'm Han Dongmin! You can call me Taesan! I'm seven years old! Nice to meet you," he declared, extending his hand in a gesture of friendship.
Leehan hesitated, his eyes locked on the offered hand. His stammering voice betrayed a struggle with a language he was yet to master.
"F-friend?" He questioned, uncertainty painted across his face.
Taesan let out a sigh, lowering his hand. He decided to sit down beside him, as Leehan regarded him with a puzzled expression before sniffling and wiping his tears.
"Since you don't want to stand up, I'll sit with you until your bum hurts," Taesan jokes, his laughter offering a fleeting moment of relief.
"I'm seven years old too," Leehan murmured hesitantly, his words barely audible but enough for Dongmin to catch.
Dongmin responded with a bright smile, "That's great! We're the same age! Let's be best friends, okay?"
"Y-you're full of energy," Leehan observed, as he looked at him with a mixture of awe and apprehension.
"Father said it is needed in business and as the next in line CEO of our company, I should learn the must know."
Dongmin laughed heartily, his enthusiasm undiminished. "I see you're not Korean like me. Are you a foreigner?" He inquired, his curiosity getting the best of him.
Leehan shook, his gaze lowered to his shoes. "I'm a Korean but I grew up in the states." He took my knees and rested his chin on top of them.
"What's your English name?" Taesan asked.
Leehan glanced at him, "Oh...umm.. I-I'm not sure about that but they call me Leehan..."
"Don't worry about those tears anymore, Hannie. I'll always come to your rescue. I'll be your protector," Taesan promised, his words carrying a sense of unwavering commitment.
"H-hannie?" Leehan mumbled, testing the name.
"Is it the name, Hannie? Do you not feel comfortable with it?" Taesan asked, concern etched across his features.
Leehan slowly shook his head, managing a faint smile. "It's fine. I'm just getting used to this, M-min."
Taesan tilted his head. "Min?" He repeated, a playful glint in his eye.
"Min and Hannie, then!" He declared with excitement.
