Epilogue: The Sun and The Moon
Years later
The grand ballroom of the charity event was filled with the laughter of the city's most influential people, each one draped in luxury and elegance.Bright lights reflected off the shimmering glass chandeliers, casting a soft glow over the guests who mingled in their perfect little worlds.
But in the corner of the room, Leehan stood frozen, his eyes scanning the crowd, a familiar unease washing over him. He had attended countless events like this before, but tonight felt different-he hadn't expected to see him here.
Doyoung, his sister's boyfriend, stood beside him, a hand gently resting on Leehan's shoulder as he followed his gaze. "You okay?"
Leehan didn't respond immediately. His eyes were locked on the man standing at the opposite end of the room, laughing with a group of people. Taesan.
It had been years-years since they last spoke, since their paths had diverged so painfully. Time had passed, and yet, seeing Taesan again brought everything rushing back-the love, the pain, the regret.
"I... I think I need a moment," Leehan muttered, his voice tight. Doyoung gave him a reassuring pat on the back before walking off to join some acquaintances.
Leehan stood there for what felt like an eternity, watching Taesan.
He wasn't the same boy he once knew, the one who had loved him so fiercely, so completely. Now, he was a man-successful, confident, but still, Leehan could feel the same warmth in his eyes that had once made him feel like he was home.
He could see it in the way Taesan smiled, the way his posture exuded confidence. But something was missing. There was a distance between them, one that no amount of time could erase.
Taking a deep breath, Leehan walked toward him, his heart pounding with the mixture of excitement and fear.
He didn't know what he was doing, what he expected, but when he finally stood before him, he felt the weight of everything they had been slip back into place.
"Taesan," Leehan said softly, his voice carrying a hint of vulnerability.
Taesan turned, his eyes widening briefly when he saw who had called his name. For a moment, the world seemed to stand still between them.
His smile faltered just slightly, but only for a moment. He reached out, offering a handshake, which Leehan took. It was stiff, formal, but there was still a spark in their connection.
"Leehan," Taesan greeted, his voice just as calm and controlled as Leehan remembered. "It's... it's been a while."
The silence that followed was heavy, thick with the things neither of them knew how to say. They stood there, staring at each other, the years of hurt and longing hanging between them like a wall neither of them knew how to dismantle.
Finally, Leehan broke the silence, his voice quiet but insistent.
"Taesan... if there was a chance, if you could-if we could try again, would you?"
The question hung in the air, and Taesan's expression shifted, his eyes betraying a hint of something-pain, sorrow, regret, all wrapped in a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes.
He reached into his jacket pocket, pulling out a small silver ring, holding it up between them.
"I... I'm about to get married," Taesan said, his words slow and deliberate, like each one took more effort than the last.
