Fuck!
I almost slip and expose myself to everyone—and to Phoebe.
The tension around the room between Phoebe and me had me forgotten that the one who stole my donut was the dream version of her, not the real her.
How the fuck did I even confuse the two different realities? Must have slipped my mind when I was busy burning holes on whoever that guy was eating the donuts I've brought. JD was his name, I think. He's also the same guy during last night's party, the one kept standing next to Phoebe like he's some kind of significant other. Despite the obvious jealousy I kept feeling towards the guy, there's something about him that's been nagging me. Like he's different. I just don't know what.
Someone snapped their fingers right in front of my eyes which caught my attention and pulled it away from JD. I turn to see Alecks' frustrated look. “Were you even listening to me?” He asks. I have never seen him look this frustrated before. Most of the time his eyes are always sparkling with mischief when it comes towards me, but right now, it's sparkling with frustration and impatience.
“I was listening,” I mutter up a lie. Just wished he wouldn't ask what was the last word he said.
“Oh yeah?” He challenges while crossing his arms over his chest, his eyes never leaving mine. “What was the last word I said to you?” Alecks arched both of his eyebrows, waiting for my answer.
Fuck me! I wasn't actually listening. All I did was stand here, glancing at JD and Phoebe, and drowning out Alecks' scolding. I'm not sure if he's scolding me, but judging from his expression and actions, it may have look like he's scolding me.
After a few second of me staying silent, Alecks had dropped his arms down. “See you weren't listening to me.” He lowered his voice, “What's up with you and Phoebe?”
Oh, nothing. It's just that I almost had let my lips touch hers before you guys showed up. Nothing too serious. Next question, please.
“Nothing,” I mutter out instead of those plethoras of ridiculous words that can get me in trouble.
“I doubt it was nothing,” Alecks says.
I don't know how to chance his mind about what he nearly witnessed between Phoebe and me. It's hard to change Alecks' mind once he's sure about something. I tried it multiple times in the past, but none of them had turned out to be successful. Once Alecks suspected something, and it's lodged in his mind that suspicion will never leave until it has proven wrong or right. No words or actions can change his mind until something crucial had happened.
Instead of saying anything more, I release a frustrated sigh and tore my attention off from him. I find myself staring at Phoebe while she speaks with her friends. Unfortunately, they all have their voices lowered in a whisper, which my chance of eavesdropping and listening in their conversation had also lowered to zero. But whatever they're talking, it makes Phoebe lose a bit of patience judging from her frustrated movement.
Well, at least I'm not the only one who's frustrated about what had happened between us. Now I have to endure being in a band with her with that thought of me nearly kissing her. That image of our lips touching gently wouldn't leave my mind. Even after taking some fresh air and having a quick bathroom break, the temptation of tasting her soft lips is there and unwavering.
The door suddenly creaks open, revealing both Samuel and Lance holding an ice cream cone. They both look like they were talking about something hilarious until Samuel glance inside the room and noticed Lilian on the couch. The poor guy immediately stopped in his tracks and became a statue for a solid second. Not until Lance gently pushed Samuel inside for him to step inside the room enough to close the door behind them.
