"So, what now?" Jannah queries after she devoured all of her food. We all glance at her with shocked face when her plate had suddenly looked empty. All that's left was her coffee order. She kept the eye contact with me as she takes a quick sip of her drink. "Don't tell you're going to try to do something to finally stop dreaming about Emmett. I don't even think you can stop a dream from happening." Jannah murmurs before taking another sip of her drink.
"Unless there's something wrong with your brain that prevents you to produce any dreams anymore," JD adds as he purses his lips.
I glance down to stare at the cat who's still hanging out under our table. After all of that, the cat chose to stay. All thanks to Lilian secretly feeding him with her bagel. I'm sure that most of Lillian's bagels were actually eaten by the cat than her. I scratch the cat's head while I try to construct my thoughts.
"If you would rather not damage your brain to the point that you won't be receiving any dreams anymore," JD pauses for a brief moment to gulp every drop of his drink. "You can always choose not to sleep."
"I don't want to be an insomniac," A slight curve of my lips reveals itself. The last thing I want was to speed run life by not sleeping.
Sleep is a crucial part of living, I don't see why people deciding to stay up late. Sleep is the only time when the brain is at rest. It may sound boring but for college students, sleep is actually helpful. After a tiring day of learning a lot of things, taking a nap can help the brain take a rest after being overloaded with information. With enough sleep, the brain will feel rejuvenated after, and it will be ready to digest more information. So sacrifice that will not only help the entire body decay faster, it will also help to understand more information.
"Never again," I shake my head and take a slow sip of my drink. After learning how important sleep was, I had stopped myself from staying up late. To prevent myself from that happening, I will immediately finish whatever deadlines I have, only to avoid cramming and doing it overnight. "I want to begin a healthy lifestyle. No more pulling an all-nighter."
"Wow, that's thei-"
"Yes, I'm aware that's their band name, Jannah. No need to point that out," I snap at her while throwing daggers at her. She releases a chuckle, even trying to wiggle her shoulders just to annoy me even more.
With a groan, I return my focus on the cat and drinking my coffee. Among all the people here in this table, the cat might give me a better advice than anyone of them. And that cat isn't even a people, it's an animal. Now that makes me want to kidnap this little furball and bring it home with me.
Lilian was smacking her lips together in the loudest way possible. That certainly caught out attention, as well as other people's. Someone from behind her threw her a heated glance. Maybe the lady has a pet peeved of people who smacked their lips loudly... Or maybe that's just her face.
"Have you tried thinking if there's some unfinished business you have with Emmett?"
I was thrown aback from her question. "What do you mean unfinished business?"
Only a vengeful ghost will have unfinished business. And I'm sure I'm not a ghost... At least that's what I think. Possibly, those dreams of Emmett are a sign that I'm in purgatory.
"Maybe there's something your brain kept telling you. Like talk to Emmett about something." Lilian shrugs her shoulders, looking distraught on her ability to construct that sentence. She knows that I still hadn't understood what she said, since I'm staring at her like she somehow grew another set of head. A groan escapes her lips before closing her eyes to focus on how she would say whatever is on her mind.
