Yawning, Orm went out of her room, now dressed for the office. Today, she wore a beige collared top and black slacks partnered with heeled sandals. “P'Eclair?” She called while walking down the stairs. She wanted to tell her that she would skip breakfast, but her cousin might not have heard her. “P'Eclair, I'll get going now! I'll lock the doors, I pro—” She stopped dead in her tracks upon reaching the bottom of the stairs. “—mise.”
Eclair was sitting on the lone chair with none other than Lingling Kwong on the other one who both turned their heads at her.
“N'Orm!” Eclair stood up and met Orm halfway. “Khun Lingling said she wanted to talk to you about something.”
Orm gave Eclair a questioning look, but her cousin only shrugged, also had no clue on what it was about.
“Khun Lingling, I'll go and leave you two.” Eclair bowed a little before stepping back and leaving despite Orm's protest.
‘What again?’ Orm didn't bother to sit down. “P'Ling—”
Lingling put the cup of tea down that she has been holding on top of her lap for the past thirty minutes, and stood up. “Sawasdee kha, N'Orm.”
“Ah.” Orm nodded and greeted Lingling as well. “Sawasdee kha, P'Lingling. What…are you doing here so early?” She asked, still unsure what the older girl was doing in their apartment that early. ‘Is she here to say sorry? No, probably not.’ She thought.
Lingling once again confused as to why her heat was beating fast. She didn't even finish her coffee earlier nor did she took a sip of the tea Eclair served. “I wanted to give you this.” She said, handing Orm a folder.
Orm tilted her head. Confused, she flipped it open and saw yet again another detailed schedule for their wedding preparations. ‘She came here early just for this? She could have waited until we're at the office. She could have sent this via email even.’ She was surprised, very much so. “Uhh?”
“That is my proposed schedule for the next two weeks to accommodate everything we needed to attend for the preparation. If it interferes with your schedule, please tell me. It's only a draft. I'm planning on sending it to Ms. Bambam once you're okay with it.”
That was a long explanation, Orm thought. “I'll go through them later, P'Ling.” She said, not that she has anything else to do really. “Is there anything else you wanted to talk about?”
Clearly, there was an elephant in the room that was making the atmosphere a little awkward.
“No.” Lingling shook her head, her voice was quieter.
Orm nodded and smiled a bit—she realized she wouldn't get an apology. “Okay, P'Ling. I have to um…go to work now.”
“Will you ride the bus?” Lingling suddenly asked.
Orm noticed the subtle uncertainty in Lingling's expression. It was something she never noticed in any of her television interviews before.
“Since your family needs the partnership with Noiam and if I don't marry you…I would still have to marry someone to get my inheritance, so I've been thinking…considering the circumstances, I have decided to marry you.”
Right then, Orm realized that it was the same expression Lingling had when she told her she would push through with the wedding. It was a little endearing, she thought. “Why? Are you coming with me, P'Ling? Do you even know how to commute? Hmm?”
Lingling has never ridden a public bus in her life. She couldn't calculate how long it would take to get to the office if they would commute.
“I'm kidding.” Orm smirked. She narrowed her eyes at Lingling who was now frowning.
