It seemed like the time at Noiam was going painstakingly slow today. Like always, Prigkhing went to work on time. Manager Ya told the R&D team that Orm called in sick, not that she cared if the girl had a simple cold or a life-threatening one. They were not friends to begin with. But after witnessing Orm getting out of Lingling's car, she started having suspicions.
A little after 10 o'clock after Jaja made her accompany her to get the coffee they ordered, Prigkhing went to the restroom to freshen up. However, as she was about to enter, she overheard gossip from who knows who those girls were.
“You know what I heard? Khun Sirilak is getting married.” Said one of the girls with a high-pitched voice, followed by a loud gasp by another.
“Really?! Girl, don't be fake news oi.”
“It's the gossip upstairs, I tell you.”
“Who could it be?”
Prigkhing thought back to what she saw at the parking lot, a rather laugh of disbelief escaped her lips.
Meanwhile, Orm was picked up by Kiet to bring her to the restaurant for their scheduled food tasting. To be honest, she still has not processed it yet that she had her designated driver now. Yesterday, Kiet came very early and waited outside until she was ready to go. She wasn't sure if it was Lingling's order to drop her off in front of the lobby, but she didn't want to draw too much attention, so she asked him if she could go out to the basement instead. Even today, he was already there an hour early.
Orm reached the place around 30 minutes before lunch time. Upon entering, she saw Lingling sitting on one of the tables by the window. Today, she was wearing a more casual outfit, still with black blazer, but this time with white shirt tucked in her jeans.
“P'Lingling Kwong!”
Lingling looked up at Orm and saw her radiant warm smile once again. Right then, she felt her heart beating faster which she blamed her second cup of coffee for. “You're late.”
Orm pouted. “Sorry.” She mumbled.
That wasn't the reply Lingling was expecting. She thought Orm would reply with something along the lines of ‘you’re just too early, Lingling Kwong’. So, she cleared her throat at that, averting her gaze from Orm's annoying puppy face to her iPad. “Come sit down. Ms. Bambam is just talking with the manager inside.”
“She hates when people invade her space.” With Gap and Freen's words in her mind, Orm sat down opposite Lingling. However, as she was settling down, the older girl gave her a pointed look.
“Ms. Bambam will sit there.” Lingling flatly said, gesturing to Orn to sit by her side.
“Ah.” Orm nodded. She went around the table then carefully sat down roughly more than two feet away from Lingling, almost near the edge. She clasped her hands on top of the wooden table, not sure if she should ask Lingling about Hong Kong seeing as the girl was busy reading some document in her iPad.
As time went by, Orm felt uneasy. In her mind, she was recounting the list of what Lingling dislikes. ‘First strike already. Ay!’ She sighed. Subtly, she turned her head to glance at Lingling. However, the girl was already looking at her, frowning. ‘OMG! What did I do? What did I do?!’
“Did I upset you, N'Orm?”
‘Eh?’ Orm was taken aback. She just noticed that Lingling has already put her iPad down on the table.
Lingling drew a sharp breath. “Why are you sitting so far away from me?”
Orm didn't know how to react to that, and Lingling looked serious about it too.
