Three days before the wedding, the R&D team at Noiam was set to go to Buriram to do a field evaluation on Orm's family's farm that would be the company's new supplier of selected crops.
Around 7 o’clock in the morning, Orm arrived at the airport, bag in hand, dressed in white silk shirt with long sleeves rolled up to her elbow, black semi-fitted jeans, and white Nike sneakers. Her hair was tied up in a high ponytail. She immediately located her colleagues and joined them at the waiting area.
“Sawasdee kha, Phi.” Orm greeted Jaja, who was already smiling at her while she was just approaching.
“Sawasdee!” Jaja patted the seat beside her, which Orm gladly occupied. “Boss drove you?” She teased.
Orm waved her hands and shook her head. “Oh, no. P'Ling—” She stopped herself before she could mention Lingling, afraid that Prigkhing might hear despite the girl having her headphones on. “There's a designated driver for me.”
Jaja hummed, smirking. “I can't wait to come back to Buriram.” She let out a happy sigh.
“Is this your first time visiting again?”
“Uh-huh.” Jaja nodded. “My mom's now living with my brother's family, so I don't really have any reason to visit.” She said, and Orm nodded. “By the way, when are you going to bring Khun Lingling to Buriram?”
“Phi.” Orm shook her head, indirectly hushing Jaja, but she didn't understand. So, Orm motioned to Prigkhing's direction behind her.
Jaja tilted her head in confusion, but understood what Orm meant after a while. “Oh.” She smiled apologetically.
“I haven't talked to her about it. I don't think she has time to visit.” Orm whispered.
“Well, she is always busy.” Jaja shrugged.
Orm couldn't agree more. ‘With how busy P’Lingling is, she probably won't have time anyway.’ She then looked ahead—a plane just took off. She has not seen Lingling since Sunday nor received a message from her. She thought she was probably busy.
That Monday, Orm went to bring her lunch, but Nene said Lingling was in an ongoing meeting, so she just left the food with her. Tuesday came, Lingling wasn't in the company. She learned from Jaja that Nene told her they were evaluating the factory renovations outside Bangkok. Wednesday was the same, but this time, Lingling went alone to attend a personal meeting with someone named Ms. Williams. Today, she wouldn't be able to see her again since she would be in Buriram and Lingling would be in Chiang Mai. She wasn't expecting a message from Lingling, not really. That would be too demanding of her, she thought. She didn't have rights to do so anyway. But a tiny part of her had this constant urge to check her phone in case Lingling sends her something.
Orm sighed, shaking the thought off of her mind. She crossed her legs as well as her arms, and closed her eyes. ‘I wonder what you're doing right now, Lingling Kwong.’
It was around 10 o’clock when their team arrived at the farm that Orm's family owned. As the service van entered the property, Heng asked, “You own this?” He was in awe of how vast the land was.
“Oh no, I don't. My parents do.” Orm gave him a bashful smile.
“Ay, you're too humble, Nong! She's an only child, so she'll eventually inherit their farm.” Jaja proudly interjected, making Heng and Gold tease her, while Manager Ya watched them with a fond smile from the rear-view mirror. Meanwhile Prigkhing who was sitting at the back, subtly rolled her eyes at Orm’s denial.
“If you're this rich, why are you still working at Noiam?” Heng asked, and Golf agreed. “If I were you, I'd just enjoy life.” The latter added.
