Chapter 28: The Fat Lady's Fright

A few days have passed since the news of Sirius Black being spotted in Dufftown. Harry was keeping to his studies at school and passing his classes. It seems that Defense Against the Dark Arts class was the most well-liked class this year as Professor Lupin taught everyone about all sorts of creatures like the goblinoid Red Caps and the aquatic demons from Japan known as Kappa. Aside from Lupin's classes, Hagrid's lessons for Care for Magical Creatures were pretty popular among the students who took them. While Hagrid was always eager to show some of the more dangerous beasts, Charlie was always by his side to keep things under control. This included putting Malfoy on a tight leash so he didn't hurt himself or others to get Hagrid in trouble.

Speaking of Charlie, her being a teacher's aide was a breeze since nearly everyone liked her, and the students went to her if they needed help understanding a lesson or a spell.

However, Harry did regret taking Divination since Professor Trelawney kept looking at Harry in concern as if he was going to die any minute. 'I should have taken Ancient Ruins instead,' Harry thought, but he bared with it nonetheless. He wrote to his parents and his friends in Hell that even though a serial killer was on the loose, he did get the chance to tell them the good things about this year and how it was an improvement over the previous years.

October came around and there was one thing Harry looked forward to the entire year, Quidditch. The only bad thing about it was that Oliver Wood, the captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team, was going to push them hard since this was his last year in Hogwarts and he wanted to be sure to win the Quidditch House Cup before graduating. He gathered the team up one morning on the field with their brooms.

"Alright, as some of you know, this is my last year at school. But if I'm being honest with myself, we should have won it last year," Oliver told his six fellow teammates.

"Don't beat yourself up, Wood. No one expected a great giant snake to attack the school and petrify the students, Filtch's cat, and even a ghost. Honestly, it was kinda creepy. Like he was dead again," Fred told the seventh year.

"Kinda makes you wonder how a ghost can die again," George told his twin. "But like you said Wood, this is going to be our year! Harry's caught every Snitch since he was on the team."

"You got that right, Georgie. Ever since Harry joined, we haven't lost," Fred smirked and patted a hand on Harry's shoulder.

"Just doing what I do best. The only reason we haven't won everything is because of the situations I ended up in between games," Harry told Fred and the team. "But yeah, we have the best team in the school. Let's win that Cup!"

Everyone on the Gryffindor team cheered as they prepared for practice. "Now I don't want to rely on just Harry. I want the Chasers going at it three times as hard. Try your damndest to get those shots past me," Wood instructed. As the team took flight, Harry was determined to help out his team and actually finish a season of Quidditch.

During the evening of Mid-October, Harry returned with the team to the common room as their housemates were buzzing excitedly. "What's going on," Harry asked Ron and Hermione who were sitting near the two most comfortable chairs near the fireplace.

"The first Hogsmeade trip date has been announced," Ron told his best friend as he pointed to the bulletin board that was hanging up. "It's going to be around the end of the month."

"Excellent! I need to visit Zonko's. I'm nearly out of Stick Pellets," said Fred as he was next to Harry.

"I can't wait to go," Harry exclaimed as he needed a change of scenery. He didn't mind Hogwarts, but even he needed to get out of the castle. He thought of the shops he could visit and buy for his parents and friends in Hell. Heck, since he was out of Hogwarts, the girls might be able to visit him in town since he doesn't need permission from the staff if they were outside. What could possibly go wrong?
