Y/N had always been drawn to Tom Riddle. His charm, intelligence, and confidence made him stand out at Hogwarts. They started spending time together in their sixth year, and soon, they were inseparable. But what started as a passionate romance slowly turned into something darker.
Tom had a way of making Y/N feel special, like she was the only person who truly mattered. He would whisper sweet words in her ear, making promises of a future where they would rule the magical world together. But there were also moments when his true nature would slip through, showing the darkness inside him.
One evening, as they sat by the fire in the Slytherin common room, Tom turned to Y/N, his eyes cold. "Why were you talking to that Gryffindor boy today?"
Y/N felt a chill run down her spine. "He just asked me for help with a spell. It was nothing, Tom."
Tom's grip on her hand tightened, his voice low and threatening. "You know I don't like you talking to other boys. You belong to me, Y/N."
She nodded, feeling a mix of fear and confusion. She loved Tom, but his possessiveness was suffocating. "I'm sorry, Tom. I won't talk to him again."
Tom's expression softened, and he pulled her close. "Good. I only want what's best for you. Remember that."
The relationship continued to spiral. Tom's demands grew more intense, and Y/N found herself isolated from her friends. He would get angry if she spent time with anyone else, accusing her of not being loyal. She felt trapped, but leaving him seemed impossible. Despite everything, she still loved him.
One night, after a particularly heated argument, Y/N decided to confront Tom. She couldn't keep living like this. She found him in the Room of Requirement, surrounded by books on dark magic.
"Tom, we need to talk," Y/N said, her voice shaking.
Tom looked up, his eyes narrowing. "About what?"
"This... this isn't healthy. The way you control me, the way you get angry when I talk to anyone else. It's not right, Tom."
Tom's face twisted in anger. "You think you know what's best for us? I'm doing this to protect you, to keep you safe."
Y/N took a deep breath, trying to stay calm. "It doesn't feel like protection, Tom. It feels like you're trapping me."
Tom stood up, his presence intimidating. "You're weak, Y/N. You don't understand the power we could have together. If you can't see that, then maybe you don't belong by my side."
Tears filled Y/N's eyes. She loved him, but she couldn't continue like this. "Maybe you're right, Tom. Maybe I don't belong with you."
Tom's expression softened for a moment, a flicker of regret in his eyes. But it was quickly replaced by cold indifference. "Then go. But remember this, Y/N: you'll never find anyone who loves you like I do."
Y/N turned and left, her heart breaking with each step. She knew she had to leave him, even though it felt like tearing her soul apart. The relationship had become toxic, and she needed to find herself again, away from Tom's control.
In the days that followed, Y/N found strength she didn't know she had. She reconnected with her friends, who welcomed her back with open arms. Slowly, she began to heal, though the scars of her time with Tom would always remain.
Tom, on the other hand, buried his feelings deep, focusing on his quest for power. But in the quiet moments, when he was alone with his thoughts, he couldn't help but remember Y/N and the love they once shared, twisted and dark as it was.
Their bond had been intense and consuming, a toxic love that left them both changed forever. Y/N moved forward, finding light and hope again, while Tom continued his descent into darkness, forever haunted by the one person who had seen both his light and his shadow.
