"Alright Hayley Jade, do you remember what's happening after school?" Mercedes asked two days later as she and Colby were taking the four year old to her third day of school.

"Am I going to my other mommy's?" Hayley asked hesitantly as she hasn't seen her biological mother in a while.

"Yes, you're going to your other mommy's tonight honey. But I'm going to pick you up in the morning and then me and you get to spend the day together tomorrow since daddy's going back to work." She explained as Hayley nodded her head but both Colby and Mercedes could tell the four year old wasn't so certain about going to see her mother.

"I don't expect this to last long." Colby quietly said as Mercedes nodded her head, but they still encouraged the four year old to go.

"We'll just have to wait and see." Mercedes whispered as they continued the drive to take Hayley to school.

The drop off to take Hayley to school went well. Mercedes and Colby ran some errands together before heading home as he'd leave to go back on the road tomorrow. They both had suspicious feelings about Natalie taking Hayley tonight, but Colby legally had to let her go until things would get resolved and sorted in their ongoing custody case that's felt like an eternity to him.

The two were shocked when they got the notification that Natalie did in fact pick Hayley up from school as well as getting the message that Hayley made it safely to her house. Mercedes and Colby were stunned she even put in that much effort, but still didn't think tonight was going to last.

"I knew this wasn't going to last." Colby said as he and Mercedes just ate dinner and saw his ex girlfriend calling him. Before he even answered the phone he knew what was about to happen.

"Hel-"

"You need to come get your daughter right now! I am not tolerating this!" Natalie yelled on the other line as soon as Colby accepted the phone call.

"What's going on?" Colby asked as he heard Hayley scream crying in the background.

"I am so done with her! You're going back to your dad's because I am so done with you Hayley! You're a brat!" Natalie yelled as that enraged Colby and Mercedes to go get the four year old out of that situation.

"Be there in five. So help me god, you better hope there's nothing legally that I can do to you." Colby sneered, hanging up as he gave Mercedes the look that she knew he was pissed and wanted to leave.

The two arrived at Natalie's house quickly. Colby practically threw the door open after noticing it unlocked. They heard Hayley crying upstairs as well as Natalie yelling. That crushed both Mercedes and Colby, but knew she'd be safer with them.

"Mommy." Hayley cried, running to Mercedes. Mercedes gave Natalie a nasty look, not wanting to say anything in front of Hayley and carried her outside.

"You're safe, I'm here." Mercedes assured her, kissing her cheek as she let Colby handle the business inside and away from Hayley.

"You are an awful, awful, disgusting person. I hope you get what's coming for you." He spat, walking out the door and slamming it shut, focusing on helping and healing his four year old. She would not get away with this any longer if Colby had any control over it.
