Six Months Later

"I'm gonna getcha!" Mercedes laughed as she was running with Hayley in the house and tickling her. The two were playing together while Colby was out of the house on their off day, taking care of some important business regarding his soon to be three year old daughter.

It was now February as six months had passed since SummerSlam. Mercedes and Colby were gearing up for WrestleMania and their wedding in two months. They were getting married on the Thursday after WrestleMania, taking the following week off to go on their honeymoon. The two were getting married in Phoenix, Arizona and were going on a honeymoon to the Bahamas for six days. After their honeymoon, they'd return back to work and back with Hayley as she'd be staying with Holly and Bob for that week.

Even though the two had so many exciting things going on, they still had some grievances and stressful situations going on. Those things were particularly with Hayley's biological mother, Natalie. She hasn't seen Hayley in three months, only keeping her for one night. Colby had called her the previous week before going out on the road with Mercedes. That phone call got ugly, which made Colby do what he needed to do. That was to get permanent custody of his daughter in order to keep her safe.

"Hayley Jade! Who's here?" Mercedes grinned as they heard Colby come home from his lawyer's office.

"Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!" Hayley squealed as she ran towards Colby. He happily picked up his daughter and kissed her cheek.

"Hey baby. You playing with mommy?" Colby asked, greeting his soon to be wife as well while holding his little girl. He was relieved that Hayley had Mercedes as a mother figure as Hayley has been calling her mom since she could talk. It made sense as Mercedes was the most permanent, consistent motherly figure in the little girl's life.

"Yeah! It's fun daddy!" Hayley giggled as Colby was relieved to see Hayley having fun amidst all the turmoil with her biological mother.

"You okay?" Mercedes asked as Colby set Hayley down and the soon to be three year old played with her baby dolls.

"I will be. I have to do to protect our daughter. It's been filed but I'm preparing for a lengthy court battle because she just wants to be a fucking pity mom." He groaned, rubbing his eyes. Mercedes looked at him sympathetically and hugged him.

"I love you. I'm so grateful we have you." Colby said as he wrapped his arms around Mercedes and held her close. They both knew he needed that.

"I'm always here, babe. I love the both of you too." She whispered, getting on her tippy toes to kiss his cheek and let him have some space to go back and play with Hayley.
