We Are Number One

As the day continued to get closer to night my nerves dissapeared and the negitive thoughts set in.

Charli, Jaimie and I were relentless. We couldn't stop thinking about the game. No matter how hard Elijah and or Ember tried to take our minds off of it.

Howards called me up to her office about two hours before the game. Everyone thought it had something to do with I being the new adation to the team. But I knew Howards was wanting me to do something that involved Charli.

As I reached the top of the spiral staircase Kyia laughed at me.

"Can I not take a break! Those stairs are a nightmare to climb quickly." I huffed.

"Well that won't be the only hard thing you'll have to do today, Alexandra." Howards voice sung with mirth.

"I swear I've told you that you can call me Alex."

"She likes to tease with full names. Gives her some sort of power." Kyia mutters.

Howards rolls her eyes as she shuts the doors behind me.

"You two better sit. We have a lot to disscus and not a lot of time."

"I'm guessing you want me to keep an eye out for Charli."

"Yes." Howards sighs, "If my sister does try to iteract with her daughter then there is going to be some sort of conflict. There is no doubting it. My Neice has proven that point many of times to me."

"I can't do anything really. Because there is no evidence other than two family members arguing, I can't just arrest her on suspicions." Kyia adds.

"We're most likely not going to get anything solid evidence wise to arrest Charli's parents. But I can keep a look out for her if things turn sour."

I hold up my wrist with the bracelt on it. "And plus, you'll know if anything goes down."

"That I will. That's another reason why I wanted to talk to you quickly. With you, Charli and Jaimie on the field that leaves only two members of our team to fight against that guy if something does happen. I won't be able to slip away since the Pirnceipal's of both teams schools have to be present but Kyua should be able to dissapear for a while."

Kyia sighs, "However, you don't think that we'll have enough power to deafeat his monster if one shows up."

"That. And what Charli will focus on." Howdy confirms.

If I could be even more nervous my body didn't show it. I felt strangly calm before we played and as I tool to the field. The warm up I missed most of the balls because there were two that sat percurley right in between where people were hitting from.

As soon as that shrill sound of the whistle went my body jolted and a bolt of nerves shook me to the core, coursing through my veins lile lightning.

Charli, Jaimie and our other forwards with our mids were doing everything they could to keep the ball up the other end. But, for most of the first half of the match, the two quaters where played around the opposing teams twenty-five line and the halfway line.

We were down to the last few minutes. I'd done too many saves to count already; the other team happened to get a break away through our lines, then Jaimie took the ball off Jade- who was our opponets best player- and ran all the way up to the twenty-five line before hitting it across to Charli.

Charli managed to enter the circle after lots of skill work and evading the other teams players before she was able to hit a foot in the corner.

"YES CHARLI!!" I screamed.

I knew my voice couldn't be heard down their but I knew that our team mates and the crowd up my end heard me. I was going to lose my voice after this game.

The crowd roared and I slapped my legpads as our team down the other end celbarated.

WE HAD SCORED!

For the rest of the minutes remaing I tried everything I could to keep that ball out when it came down my end- which was scarcily.

Halftime was no more than just a pep talk to the younger people on our team, telling them while some of them don't have the experince, they're still faster than the older girls on the other team.

The majority of the crowd cheered with as us anthor goal was scored.

That goal is number two!

"It's two nill! Come on, Alexandra! Don't let any in! Do. What. You. Have. To!" My inner monoluge raged on throughout the game but this was the constant thought that ran through my mind.

Back and forth after back and forth. Goal after goal. Another goal we scored from another corner lead to us leading three nill.

My job was the same as always defend our goal and keep them from scorring.

It came down to the last quater. Jade and her teammates were stil adimant about getting at least one goal to claw their way back.

"I'm sorry to say this but we are smoking you! NO! DON'T THINK THAT!" I cursed underneath my breath.

We had a couple minuetes left. All I had to do was keep them shut out. To my surprise we managed to get another corner. Their goalkeeper kept the ball out and we had to start our fight again to enter their cirlce.

With a huge bang and an echoing clank the ball it the back board.

Shelly had broken away with a few of our teamates after I had saved the ball.

I had saved the ball, then after it had left the cirlce, Charlotte slapped it up to Larena on the halfway line who hit it to Indy and then she hit it to Shelly. Who entered the circle.

It was like slow motion.

She took one long, gaint step into the circle, back straight and hands at the top of the stick.

As her foot hit the ground she lent forwards and her stick swung towards the ball.

With a giant slap the ball shot alomg the turf towards the goal and their goalkeeper dived the other way in vien to try and stop it.

With a huge bang and an echoing clank the ball it the back board. The ball had gone the other way and hit the backboard of the goal!

"YEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!"  I screached.

"We! Are! Number! One!"
