Her life was a joke, a cosmic one, that was the only thing that made sense as to why everything would be sucking so bad after two days of amazingness with Esme... Like, she must've done something that just really fucking pissed God off or something like that.

She had no doubt that she had, she just didn't know what that was, or why he was allowing Bryce fucking Benedict to do his bidding.

"You seem like you are just in the best mood this morning." Juliette lifted her head off her arms, glaring over at Carly as she did... Why was that something that needed to be pointed out?  She knew that she was in a bad mood, why make a remark about it?

Unless she was misreading sarcasm and Carly was actually being serious, which was highly doubtful but of course still entirely possible... No, she was gonna go with the most likely thing which was that Carly was being a little dickhead.

"Your sarcasm is so far from appreciated, Ellison." She said flatly, and Carly smiled at her, slipping a coffee cup across the table as she gasped, sitting up straighter. She hadn't had time to actually grab any this morning, God, this was enough for her to want to grab Carly by the face and kiss her like one of those 1950s 'I'm back from war' sailor kisses... But she would restrain herself.  For now. "But that coffee is, I could kiss you." Her statement was met by Carly laughing and patting her arm, shaking her head as she did.

Rude.  You'd be so lucky to kiss me... Actually, it was kind of a shock that she hadn't kissed Carly yet... Really, it was only Carly, Becky, Tegan, and Emma left in their immediate friend group.  She'd get there.

She'd get there.

"Mmm... Maybe some other time, I think you'd be too aggressive for my liking right now." She said, and Juliette raised an eyebrow, taking a sip of the coffee as she sighed in relief... It was bitter, for sure brewed at home and poorly, but that didn't matter, it was fucking heaven right now.

Hell, she'd drink caffeinated puddle water at this point, she wasn't very picky.

"Becky's not aggressive?" She asked, unsure if she actually wanted the answer or not... Actually, she knew that she didn't want the answer.  Carly blushed deeply, looking away from her as she became very interested in the spiral of her notebook.

Oh, so I hate where this is going.  I loathe it actually.

"Aggressive?  No. Passionate?" Carly let out a breathy sigh and nodded, her vision clouded with thoughts that Juliette never ever wanted her to deeply explain, because she was pretty sure that she would have to take a dive off a fucking pier into a drained lake if that happened. "Hell yeah." Juliette grimaced, shaking her head.

Passion was somehow worse.

"Oh, gross." Maybe gross was the wrong word, but it sure as hell was the only word that actually came to mind when she talked about it.

Carly gave her a look, sighing as she did.

Oh God... The white-hot feeling of guilt settled in her gut.  She didn't wanna push her friends away.

"How is that gross?" Juliette shrugged, fiddling with her pen... Gross was the wrong word, but talking about passion always made her skin crawl when it wasn't with Esme.  Esme made her feel safe, like she wasn't going to go to hell for falling in love or feeling passionate or hearing someone talk about it...

Carly, unfortunately, was not close enough to her yet to make her feel safe while talking about it.

"Just... Thinking about my friends in the heat of passion makes my skin crawl." She sighed, and Carly laughed, reaching over to squeeze her arm with an expression that was thankfully amused and not annoyed like she had been thinking that it would be.
