Esme was taking far longer than Juliette wanted them to actually arrive at the party - sure, she could hang out with Shelby, Micheal, Becky and Carly until they got there, but she wanted them. She wanted to feel their skin, she wanted to kiss them, she wanted to have them close to her... They'd been away from her for too long.
Had it only been at most half an hour since she'd seen them last? Yeah, but that didn't make her any less needy for them. They could walk away for three minutes, and she would crave them like they'd been gone for fucking days. That was part of being so deeply in love with them, she just never got over how much she needed them, wanted them, and craved them.
She was shaken from her thoughts by Shelby leaning on the wall beside her, pressing a cool glass of water into her hand as she did.
"You need this, you haven't had enough water today." She said, and Juliette frowned, looking down at the glass as she swirled it around before looking up at Shelby, who was drinking from a glass of her own. How could she say that with such certainty? How did she know that without a shadow of a doubt, she totally could've had a lot more water today.
Had she?
Fuck no, but she could, and the implication that she couldn't wasn't fair.
"And why do you think that?" She asked, wanting Shelby to give her solid reasons aside from well... The fact that she'd only really had one glass of water today because she'd been rushing around and forgot that she needed hydration in order to survive. Actually, the jury was out on that, if she wasn't dead yet and she forgot water as much as she did, wasn't that a really good sign that maybe human beings had moved past the need for water?
Shelby wasn't fazed by her question, she merely snorted and shook her head, looking at Juliette with an adoring sort of expression, one that told her that Shelby simply knew everything in the entire world.
"Because I know you, and I know that you haven't had enough water today, or statistically any day of this trip." Shelby pointed out and Juliette frowned, looking up at her as she shook her head - just because she was right didn't mean that she had to voice it.
Like yes, Shelby was the most intuitive person she'd ever met in her entire life and sometimes that was a blessing, but right now it felt like a curse. When Shelby was calling her out, then it became a curse instead of becoming the blessing that it normally was.
"I hate how intuitive you are." She sighed, and Shelby grinned down at her, a full smile instead of her little one that she normally did, the one that was just full of affection that she'd been favoring recently - it was nice to see a larger one on her face, it felt like she was bathing in sunlight.
Being the object of Shelby's joy was possibly the most beautiful and healing thing in the entire world, and it was Juliette's expert opinion that if everyone got to experience it once, there would be no war, no strife... Just love. That was what Shelby smiling at her was...
Juliette shook her head, furrowing her brows... It was also very confusing sometimes because she was supposed to be annoyed at her, but one simple smile and even the slight annoyance that she was feeling was simply washed away.
It was a fucking superpower.
"Well, without my intuition you'd be hooked up to an IV right now from dehydration, and you know that." Shelby pointed out and Juliette paused... Okay, so her other superpower was making really good fucking points all the time. She wasn't wrong to say that, because that had happened more than once over the years - Shelby literally probably was the only reason that she was alive at this point, her survival skills were severely lacking when it came to self care because of how fucked her internal clock was, and Shelby had in fact saved her from herself more than once.
