Being out of the house, well out of the trailer park, felt fucking amazing right now, mostly because she was getting so stir crazy at home that she was about to tear her own skin off just to give herself some semblance of enjoyment... Was that fucking insane to think?
Yes.
But sitting still and literally not being able to do a thing for hours on end had been hell... Granted, she also hadn't really wanted to leave the house much due to the swelling, so there had been that... It was like two sides of herself were battling, but there was a large part that had wanted to run away, maybe with some kind of mask or some shit hiding her features and rejoin society.
Her friends, it was clear, were not as happy that she was already up and out of bed, at least if the concerned way that Becky had been staring at her while she was carefully arranging donuts was anything to go off of. She probably thought that she didn't notice, and at first that was accurate.
Juliette knew what she was, and observant was not that... But she'd been staring so hard that it became impossible not to notice, so Juliette let out a sigh and turned to her, clearing her throat as Becky worked to busy herself with napkins, seeming to shock back into herself.
Nice try, but I saw that. Explain yourself.
"Why are you staring at me like that?" She asked, seeing Becky's shoulders tense as she paused like she was working out the best way to say what was ever on her mind, which Juliette could inform her of if she'd just ask.
She wasn't made of glass, she could ask her any question that anyone else would be asked. Finally after what had felt like an hour of sitting there, still as a stone, Becky sighed and lowered her shoulders, looking over at her warily.
I'm not gonna combust, just speak to me.
"Don't take this the wrong way-." Juliette scoffed, shaking her head... Okay, so maybe she was off to a bad start, because that was one of the stupidest things that someone could say - it was like when people said 'no offense' before making a statement that was clearly intended to cause some kind of offense. It didn't make the offense go away; it was just intended to get rid of blame.
Maybe Becky didn't know that... She could inform her.
"Okay, so when you say that, you do know that I am a thousand times more likely to take it the 'wrong way', right?" She asked, noting the look of annoyance that flashed across Becky's face before she pushed it down... Okay, so she had known, but she still had said it.
Maybe she was being too rigid, that was probably the societal way to speak, she just hated all the unwritten rules within communication, like why wouldn't she be offended by something that someone said if it was offensive? If someone was going to say something that she was going to take the wrong why, why wouldn't she do that?
It made no sense... But that was probably a really dumb hill to die on.
"... Be that as it may, it's the phrase that exists for it." Becky paused then, looking unsure as she glanced over at Juliette, like she wanted her to clarify something despite not liking the clarity that she'd just gotten. What was with people and doing that? How did that solve anything? "I think." She said, and Juliette sighed, crossing her arms across her chest as she grimaced, mouth twitching at the pain that the downward movement had given her.
It was the societal one, she knew that... She just hated that it was and thought that that was stupid. The world would be a lot better off if people were just honest and said what they wanted to say outright, it would do away with a lot of miscommunication, at least in her own humble opinion, but what did she know, right?
