Chapter Twenty Nine - Awful Teamwork
No one really ever knew where Dawn and Shinx lived. It was one of those mysteries that would stay mysterious until someone bothered to check them out, like Envy's gender. The only people that would really know would be the other homunculi, being the same in many physical ways they would know much more about the class demon and her pet. But nevertheless, no one really knew where the two went after school.
"Dawn..?" Shinx asked, floating beside her as they walked home. The girl heard him, but didn't respond. She stared ahead, her feet tapping against the ground. Her companion looked down at the pavement, gulping. He had known this homunculus for as long as he could remember, and knew her inside out.
"Are you going to join the school team?"
"I don't know, I have to think about it"
There was an awkward pause.
"Are...You OK Dawn?"
"Why the hell wouldn't I be?" She sighed, looking at her friend. He was the only one she could really show emotions around, without ruining her bad ass reputation. "Shinx, do you think I should join, I'm not good at it, and don't even like it"
"I've never seen you conflicted over something so much" Shinx laughed, floating in front of her, smiling, his big yellow eyes staring right at her. Dawn frowned.
"What do you mean?"
"I think you should join, Dawn! Even if you never played football you would totally help the team win!"
Dawn looked at him, and sighed loud. She gently pushed him aside and kept walking, looking back at Shinx.
"Fine, I'll join just for you" She said quietly. "But don't tell anyone alright? I want people to piss themselves when they find out who they're up against"

Alchemy was probably either the funnest subject, or the worst, it depended on the individual. People who were good at it, and enjoyed it like the Elric brothers, would love Alchemy. On the other hand, people like Dawn, who just had her butt kicked, didn't really enjoy it...
"Alright!" Kimblee announced to his class the following morning. "This is your second Alchemy lesson, and last time you sparred so I could assess your abilities"
"Remember your abilities babes?" Mimi giggled, whispering to Dawn. The female homunculus batted her away, going red on the face because of anger and embarrassment.
"Shut up, princess! You want me to show you what I'm capable of again?" she hissed.
Kimblee shot the two girls a glare before continuing.
"So today you'll be learning about teamwork"
The students groaned in disappointment. Sparring with your friend was one thing, you were able to somewhat know their weaknesses and strengths to your advantage. But working in a team is another, you have to know each others strengths and weak points, have everybody in mind and work together to bring down an opponent or target. Some people were not good in those scenarios.
"Sir! That's unfair! Some people don't work well with others!" A ginger kid complained.
"Hey..." Erin leaned over and hissed to Edward. "Can you tell me what happened last lesson? I was in isolation remember?"
"Um, alright, we basically sparred in random pairs he put us in so he could assess our current abilities...I won against Winry of course-"
"Did not!" Winry told him off. slapping the back of his head.
