Chapter Twenty Three

Chapter Twenty Three - Ask Her

The final bell rang loud and clear through the school, a sound of bliss for the tired students. They poured out of the classrooms and school doors, more then eager to get home and start pampering themselves for the upcoming event. Before anyone could object or follow her, Winry stormed out of the building, obviously angry at something. Ed and Al came out of class, but lost her in the thick crowd of pupils. Alphones could tell it was because Winry wanted to go with his older brother, but Edward was simply to blind to see her crush. 

"What is up with her?" Edward moaned, not enjoying his friend's whimsical behaviour. Al laughed, annoying his sibling more. "What?!"

"You really don't get it yet do you?" Alphones,chuckled, amused at Ed being so clueless. He was the brightest and most talented alchemist in the form, easily the school. But when it came to noticing how a girl felt about him, Edward Elric was dumber then a sack of blunt rocks. 

"No Al, I don't. If I did don't you think I would have asked you?" 

"Seriously brother, she wants you to ask her out to the dance!" 

Edward stopped for a second and blushed. This made Al explode into a fit of uncontrollable giggles. 

"You should see your face right now! It's priceless!" He hollered. He calmed himself down and asked more questions. "Really Ed, why haven't you asked her yet?" 

"I-" Edward started, but choked on the words as they caught in his throat. "I guess I liked someone else" 

"Really? Who?" Alphones prodded, wanting to know. Ed opened his mouth to answer when a familiar yet different voice called out to them. 

"Hey Blondie!" Dawn greeted them with her new sweet attitude, and playfully slapped Ed on the back. Unfortunately she was still as strong as she was with her original persona. Al shivered in her presence, scared she might snap out of the trance in which Mimi's experiment put her in at any second. 

"Say Hi to your flat mates for me! And wish Shinx luck, my lil' baby will be playing DJ!" With that she pranced off, happier and higher then a giraffe on a trampoline. Shinx flew after her and glanced at Ed and Al, shrugging and mouthing 'I don't know either'. The two brothers looked at each other and stared, more scared of the new Dawn then the old one. Edward looked back and started to think about Winry, and if it would be worth it to ask her. Come to think of it, she had been nice to him, even when he broke his automail. Maybe ha had just been looking the wrong way...

 "No. No...NO!" Erin threw things from her wardrobe, not caring whether they landed on her bed or on the floor. She had nothing to wear that evening, and finding something was so frustrating. She had a vast collection of tank tops, shorts and skirts, but nothing nice to put on for the School Dance. 

"Damn!" She slumped on the bed amongst her clothes after clearing her entire closet and wardrobe out, frowning. It was way too late to get to the nearest shop, and she should have thought about it before the night of the dance. 

"Wait a minute.." she paused, climbing off her bed and looking out into the corridor, in the direction of Winry's room. Erin was sure her flat mate had some nice dresses in her room, but she wasn't sure it would be nice to break into Winry's room and raid her closets for a dress to the dance. The door slammed downstairs, angry footsteps stomping into the house. Erin looked over the banister to see a very pissed Winry throwing her bag into the living room. 

"Hey Winry...Everything all right?" 

"No" she sighed, walking up the stairs to Erin. "I cannot believe how stupid some guys are" 

Erin laughed, she knew what her mate was talking about. 

"Look I'm sure he will figure it out sooner or later...Hey I'v been wandering if I could borrow an dress or something? I have nothing to wear.." 

"Sure" Winry smiled and mentioned for Erin to follow her into her bedroom. Erin had been in there before, for midnight feasts and slumber parties, simple girly stuff, which kept the Elrics up all night and drove them crazy. 

"Here" Winry opened her wardrobe, inside was a much wider variety of nice dresses then Erin had, amongst all the gear and suits she used when building and tinkering. There was only three, but to Erin it seemed like a million, seeing as she had no decent one piece outfits in her room. Her gaze was caught by short strapless green dress on the side.

"Ohmigosh! Please can I wear that one!" 

"Sure, I never liked it anyway, you can keep it" Winry laughed. She picked the green out up and handed it to Erin, who seized it happily and ran into the bathroom, eager to see herself in the awesome green garment. Winry looked back into the wardrobe and picked out a metalic silver dress, similar to the one she had given her friend. 

"I don't care if that blind fool doesn't ask me. I'm going anyway" 

"WINRY!" 

The girl's head snapped up, perking up as she heard her name being called from the door. She dropped the dress onto the bed. Edward came thundering up the stairway. He grabbed Winry by her shoulders and stared at her for a long uneasy while, a mad blush spreading over his face. Winry frowned.

"Well, what?" she asked, getting impatient. "Spit it out! Do you want me to throw my wrench at you again?" 

"Come to the Dance with me!" Ed blurted out, almost as if he were desparate to ask that very question for the whole day. Erin came out of the bathroom and smiled as she saw Winry hugging the completely red Ed.

YEYE ED FINALLY ASKED OUR WRENCH SLINGING FRIEND! lol this chapter sucks SO much, but i am proud nevertheless =____= the dance is coming up, and just wait til dawn breaks from that spell, it will HILARIOUS. XDDD and yes, shinx is the DJ *evil grin* not my idea though. Edwin is one of my favourite FMA couples OwO along with Royai UwU hehehehe MEOW IM SO HYPER I CANNOT WAIT TO WRITE THE DANCE AND DAWN RUINING ERIN'S FIRST KI- im gonna stop now :D spoooooiiiler alert whoop whoop!
