Chapter Eight

Chapter Eight - Making Friends

Mimi kept turning around to check the time, so much that it pissed Envy off. He couldn't concentrate with her long red hair flinging in his face every five minutes. So when Hawkeye declared they had three more minutes, Envy was happier then he should have been. Erin was a much better company then the new girl, even if she did stare at him throughout most of the lesson. He would rather be looked at then hair slapped.

"Pens down, stop writing" Hawkeye announced, her voice being followed by the clatter of pens and rustling of paper. 

"As i come around to collect your test papers i shouldn't hear any talking." 

Erin hurriedly finished the last answer off and closed her paper, setting it out in front of her for the teacher to collect. Winry did the same, then nudged Erin to get her attention.

"Hey, look at Sloth" she told her friend with a slight grin. Erin looked at the person next to her, and found that Sloth had fallen asleep mid sentence, only halfway through her exam. She and Winry quietly giggled as Sloth woke up and groggily rubbed her eyes as Hawkeye came and took the test paper from right under the homunculus' nose. Dawn had finished rather quickly, she was done with about ten minutes to spare, while Ed finished in the nick of time. Dawn smirked at the boy next to her, loving the near terrified expression on his face. The bell rang out, signalling the start of break. Edward was probably the first one out of that class, wanting to get away from Dawn as quick as possible. Al caught up with his older brother and held him back to wait for their two friends. 

"Lets go" Winry said, tugging Erin on the arm after realising Ed and Al were not in the class. "Those two are probably in form already" 

"Alright alright" Erin stuffed her pencil case into her shoulder bag and race off with Winry, to find the Elric brothers standing right outside the classroom.

"Whats your next lesson?" Erin asked asked Edward as they loitered in their form room at break, awaiting the next bell which was to come in about ten minutes. Edward looked up for a moment, trying to remember off the top of his head.

" Food technology i think" he said slowly but surely. Al came up to them, looking worried sick. Winry was the first to notice his facial expression. 

"What's wrong Al?" she asked, putting a hand on the young boy's shoulder. 

"I did terrible in that exam!" he whined, obviously distressed. Erin smiled reassuringly at him.

"Don't worry about it Al!" she told him. "You revised and studied, I'm sure you did better then all of us put together" 

Al smiled and felt a little better. He usually was the one to freak out before and after exams, but always got top marks in the end. Erin looked up and saw Mimi enter the classroom. She was wearing a wild grin on her face, looking like she had just won the lottery or saw something unbelievable. She came up to Erin, Winry and the Elric brothers, dumping her bag on the desk. 

"Hi! You're Erin right?" she put her hand out for Erin to shake, still smiling like a mad man. Erin took the red haired girl's hand and shook it.

"If you're mad about me sitting next to the palm tree kid, then I'm sorry. I didn't know that was your seat"

"Oh, it's OK" Erin said, blushing slightly. "It doesn't matter. You can take the seat if you want"

"Thanks! that's awesome! You don't know how much fun it is to torment that guy!"

Erin laughed nervously, already regretting the fact that she had given her seat next to Envy away to the new girl.

"What?! Erin, seriously? You're letting the new girl sit next to your crush?" Winry gasped after Mimi walked away to introduce herself to Greed and Lust.

Erin elbowed her gently in the stomach.

"Shhh! It's fine, i didn't like sitting that close to the front anyway"  

"I know you are gonna change your mind when he walks through that door." Ed laughed, playfully mocking his friend. Erin frowned.

"Tsk! No I'm not!" she denied.

"I hate her so much!" Envy growled to himself as he walked through the doors to the back table, throwing his book bag onto the desktop and slumping in his chair, fishing his iPod out of his trouser pocket. "Damn her"

Edward glanced at Erin, who was already up and about in the land of love and day dreaming, staring at Envy.

"Aha, I knew it" he taunted. Winry giggled at Erin's face when she realised Envy saw her staring dreamily at him. 

"You must be Dawn" Mimi walked up to Dawn and Shinx. The dark girl was standing in a corner of the class, which was empty because the students were keeping clear of the area she was in, like iron filings being pushed away by a powerful magnet. Dawn turned to the new girl, smirking.

"I guess you're too new to understand the first rule of this school. Don't come near me unless you're looking for a beating"

"I guess I am too new" Mimi grinned, not backing off or looking even slightly intimidated like all the other souls who came close to Dawn. The spiky haired girl raised an eyebrow, then a menacing sneer played across her face.

"I really do admire your courage." she laughed. "Any normal person would turn tail and run by now, or give me all their lunch money and beg me not to hurt them" 

"Maybe 'cause I don't find you all that scary" Mimi told her. Dawn's smile faded. No one had ever admitted they were not scared of her. Not scared of HER? And with such a straight face? The girl was either really stupid, or really suicidal. 

"Check out the new girl" Al tapped Erin and Winry on the shoulders, pointing to Mimi and Dawn. "I think she has suicidal tendencies* 

Erin and Winry both tried not to laugh at their friend's remark.

the next chapter done, whoo! *wipes brow" this one is a bit longer then the other ones i think, but oh wellz. i am really running out of ideas, and resisting the urge to pair my OC (Erin) with Envy XD ahahah......imma wait a bit before doing so, i still have a funny smoothie shop scene saved in my brain for that cause ... *evil face*
