Chapter Seventeen - Revenge

"Damn life!" Mimi threw her bag at her table, missing. It hit the wall beside her desk with a thud and landed underneath on the floor.

"Somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning" Edward muttered to himself, obviously way to loudly, as Mimi's head snapped around to face him. Her eyes seemed tired but scary. She looked like hell, as if she didn't get enough sleep. Edward put his hands up defensively and went back to munching on his Oreo.

"Aren't you supposed to have those with milk?" Mimi asked. Ed made a gagging sound and stuffed the rest of the biscuit into his mouth. Winry came into class and slammed her red tool box onto her table.

"Why is everyone so pissed today?!" Ed exclaimed, alarmed as Winry pulled out her wrench of doom. She laughed and came over to him.

"Relax silly! I noticed your arm was missing a screw after the Alchemy lesson, so I'm fixing it"

Edward and Mimi looked at each other. Winry always screamed and hit him with her array of tools when he broke her work, which in this case was his automail. She seemed way too happy to be fixing it without any remarks or death threats.

"So you had a good nigh huh?" Mimi watched Winry tinker with Edward's right shoulder. The girl turned back and grinned.

"Yup! No homework, i had all the time to myself"

"Lucky you. I had shit loads of work because of Hawkeye. She made me answer all the questions on the question sheet she gave us!"

"Mimi, that was three easy questions on algebra" Winry laughed. "Surely you're not stressing over that, are you?"

"That and the fact I have no date for that stupid dance"

Meanwhile, Erin stumbled into their form room, completely knackered from the lack of sleep. After her isolation, as further punishment Bradley made her revise the whole first two chapters of the book 'Alchemy for Beginners', and write a two page, two sided essay on it. She had something to complain about. She made her way to her seat, and slumped in the chair without acknowledging any of her friends, even Envy who sat only a seat away from her. The girl groaned and sighed heavily, trying everything to stop her heavy eyelids from shutting over her eyes, because she knew once she was asleep, nothing, and I mean nothing would wake her. Especially when she was this tired.

"What's up with you?" Ed asked his friend, who left the house much later then he, Winry and Al did.

"Homework!" Erin moaned into the table, not bothering to raise her head. "Bradley made me write a four page essay about some transmutation circles which a two year old could use"

"Wow. And I thought I had it bad" Mimi said to herself, rethinking just how horrible her life really was.

The time until the bell rang for lunch went by exceptionally slow. Well, not for Alphones...

Al looked at jayme from afar, her silky black hair glimmered in the light, he seemed to fall into her deep golden eyes that shone brightly, he stared transfixed at her glowing smile and her sleek feminine body line, and her pure angelic wings and her-

"Hey Al" Jayme turned around to ask the love struck young alchemist a question. "Can you help me with question six? I'm stuck and I don't know what to do"

"Huh?" Al wasn't really paying much attention to her words. "Sure I'll help you"

"Where should we sit?"

The canteen was bustling with hungry students and impatient teachers, all eager to do something, either get to the staffroom as soon as possible or snatch the last veggie burger before the person ahead in the line. Erin pointed to a free table a short distance away from where she, the Elrics, Winry and Mimi were standing. The, now 5, friends rushed over and seated themselves before another group of pupils got the chance to snare the last free table in the canteen. Erin dug into her sandwich, more hungry then tired by Lunchtime. None of them had a chance to speak before the double doors to the canteen could be heard slamming open against the wall. Silence fell across the hall as none other then Dawn walked in, her piercing amethyst eyes watching, waiting for anyone to stir the slightest movement, or make the quietset noise.

"Alright, line up" She huffed, annoyed at the fact that no one did yet. She glared at the students in the canteen. "What do you all have cotton for ears!? LINE UP!"

"No one's scared of you Dawn!" A boy shouted from a table across the large room. The murmuring was getting louder as everyone started to agree and point at Dawn, saying rude or insulting things. Dawn growled to herself, the disobedience of the students and the stench of bravery getting to her. Ever since she nearly broke down because of Envy's dirty trick, no one was scared of her since they knew she had a soft side, and wasn't always the monster she was now. Dawn stood back, her shoulders stiffened when she saw the rebellion and brave faces of all those around her, her breath stopped in her chest as everyone simply ignored her orders. No one listened when she had asked the to line up. She grimaced,

"If this is what it has to be, so be it"

She strode into the middle of the canteen, Shinx following behind her. She dismissed all the chants and 'boo's from the crowds of pupils.

"What is she doing?" Mimi asked. Winry shook her head and whispered.

"Whatever it is, I don't think it's gonna be pretty"
