Chapter Three – Mathematics

Break…

"Where the hell did my crisps go?"

Winry dug through her bag, in search for her precious snack.

"Crisps are extremely high in salt and fat." Inquired Al. He was sitting at the same table that Winry and Erin sat on top of, finishing off his biology homework. "You should just have an apple."

"Al has a point" Erin suggested.

"Oh shut it. Don't tell me you eat crisps while thinking what they're made of!" Winry said defensively. She got back to digging for the gold.

"No but we're just saying!" Al looked up from his work.

"Here they are!" Winry called out in triumph, taking a grab bag of Doritoes out of her backpack. She held it out as she zipped her school bag back up, when a hand shot out and snatched it right out of her grip.

"Thanks, blondy" Dawn said as she walked by, ripping open her newly acquired bag of potato crisps and throwing it in the air for her flying cat to catch.

"OI!" Winry jumped up, picking up her weapon of choice; the wrench, along with her. Erin held her friend down.

"It's only a bag of crisps, Winry." Erin insisted. "Besides, you've seen what that girl is capable of during gym class."

Winry nodded and sat back down on the table, fuming. Erin had to say she felt intimidated by Dawn. It looked like everyone was. The only person she'd seen Dawn cower before was Mustang, and she could understand why. One click of the fingers and the classroom would be no more. She turned her head and let Envy catch her gaze once again.

"The lover girl is at it again." Winry sighed, eyeing Erin who was now staring at Envy. "I don't know what you see in that guy."

"Oi! I don't know what you see in the Shrimp!" Erin snapped, spinning round. Winry blushed. She looked down and fiddled with her wrench nervously.

"Well you see-"

"Hey guys!" Edward announced to his friends, saving Winry from a long awkward explanation.

"Speak of the devil." Erin muttered, nudging Winry playfully in the side. She was pushed away. "Yo Ed. Didn't see you there!"

Edward glared at Erin coldly, before dumping his school bag down on the desk top, fishing out a screw and shoving it into Winry's hands.

"You forgot this. I couldn't dress properly because my arm wasn't-"

"Sure! I'll fix it!" Winry said in a hurry, jumping up and taking her wrench off the table top. Edward was puzzled.

"What's with her? She'd usually scold me for busting up her automail" Ed whispered to Erin over Winry's shoulder. Erin shrugged and grinned as she watched Edward blush. It was fun when you were not the only one in love in your group of friends.

"What about you Al?" Erin wanted to get the truth out of all her friends. But Alphonse didn't even hear her.

"Al? Al? Alphonse?!" Erin called, waving a hand in front of his face. Al shook his head and looked up.

"Huh?"

"So?"

"So what?"

Erin sighed, burying her face in her hands.

"Never mind." She said irritably, dismissing him. Al shrugged and got back to his homework.

"It's called homework for a reason, Al." Erin told him.
