Sebastian POV
He was pacing back and forth in the Undercroft. He was on edge and felt like beating someone up or running a marathon or something. He had that feeling where something was under his skin and he couldn't let it go. He hit his forehead hard with the heel of his palm. He knew better than this, he knew logically not to give into this "itch" of anxiety, he knew it lead to obsession. It's like he was a damn addict for chaos. He thought back to earlier in the afternoon.
He had overheard a house elf and Ominis talking in the hall outside of the Slytherin common room. He was always seeing Ominis talk to house elves so he didn't think anything of it. Ominis was always asking them how their day was and if they needed anything, they were always shocked and dismayed. This time he stopped in his tracks when he heard, "Mistress Anne requires....." he ducked behind a corner so he could hear the rest.
"She is eating, yes, Master Gaunt. She spends her time reading and gardening. She is quite kind, and treats everyone kindly.....this is why I am here. Mistress Anne needs more medicine, something to make her pain better. Someone so kind should not be suffering so much. I knew Master, who is also kind, would know what to do!".
Ominis looked pained and saddened, he was struggling for words. "The potions that I have been making sure are supplied, are all we have. She is in pain due to a curse. I don't know what else to do".
"Please Master Gaunt, there must be something?". The elf begged.
"I asked my horrible family to lend me their personal healer to see if anything else can be done. He found a different potion that alleviated her pain more than anything else has". Ominis added, "thank you, I will send her an owl right away".
Sebastian's legs had felt like lead, he wanted to rush to Ominis and demand he bring him to Anne. He couldn't move however. He heard soft footsteps coming towards him, he looked up and Ominis placed his hand on his shoulder. "I know that was hard to hear, what can I do for you?".
Sebastian wanted to rage and yell, but instead he leaned into Ominis' arms and inhaled his favorite scent. He smelled like clove, sandlewood and clean laundry. He quietly said, with tears welling in his eyes, "please take me to her, I have to do something". Ominis ran his hands through Sebastian's hair and said, "as of last week she still didn't want to see you, I will keep trying my love, I promise."
Frustrated, he shook his head of the memory. He trusted Ominis and he knew that he wasn't wrong. The events of last year showed that, and Anne not wanting to talk to him was his fault. He needed to find a cure though, he couldn't let his sister waste away.....however, he still had no lead that didn't involve the wrong kind of power. He was so damn confused, heartbroken and felt powerless. His mind started churning with anxiety and ideas again as he paced. He was getting more and more upset the more he paced.
He heard the mechanism opening and figured it was Iris or Ominis. He didn't want to see either of them, they didn't understand. He knew this conversation was not going to go well, he was so amped up and angry. After all, lashing out was kind of his thing.
Ominis was the one coming, he could tell by the red glow of his wand. He saw Ominis make his way over the couch that Iris had conjured for them. He waited for Ominis to say something, most likely it was going to be a lecture on not letting his anxiety take control over him. He scoffed and steeled himself for an argument. He leaned against the wall and waited.
Minutes passed and Ominis just sat there. He had one leg crossed over the other and was leaning back. He looked very in control of his emotions, it pissed Sebastian off. Maybe he didn't know he was there? Ominis usually could sense him across the room, but the wand was down at his side so maybe he didn't know. He waited a few minutes longer before he lost patience.
